Could I keep half a can of beef broth in the can and in the fridge? Is it safe to do and how long will it stay good? Can I leave other opened cans in the fridge like wet cat food? Or is it best to take it out and store leftovers in another container?
I just wanna make sure it's safe.
Thanks.

So what about evaporated and condensed milks from a can? Don't people leave those opened in the fridge for a up to a week? Or is that a different kind of can?

It is not safe to have opened tins in the fridge. Some tin products lose their flavour,or contaminate other foods with their flavour. Food even in the frig deteriorates very quickly, and should be stored in air-tight containers to give them longer life, and keep them fresh. By the way did you know that cats prefer food that is not refregerated. Why don't you buy the pouchs they sell for cats? They are individual meals. Purr! Purr!

It's propobly safe for a little bit but your really better of putting it into a plastic container otherwise the food can start to take on a metal taste. Also, It's safer to keep it in a closed plastic container so nothing will drip into your food. I do keep canned cat food in the fridge but I never leave it there for more than a day.

No, don't leave open tin cans in the fridge. Use a different container to store them. If it's something like tomato sauce that you only use a bit of every so often, place in a ziplock bag and freeze until you need to use it again.

This is just my opinion, but I would never, ever keep a half of a can of anything in the refrigerator. Put it in another container, it only takes a minute and it is much safer. To me it doesn't matter if it is cat food etc. never an open can in the refrigerator !!

Never put open cans in the fridge – transfer contents into a plastic storage container or zip lock bag.

some cans are lined (they're white). those I've placed in fridge for a day or two. if what your storing is acidic, like tomato based foods, be careful. it breaks down the coating and causes a metallic taste.

It's not safe. Flip it into a tupperware or gladware container. With air the metal will oxidize. Better safe than sorry.

NOT A SMART IDEA---YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR PAST PRACTICE AND START STORING REMAINING CONTENTS OF/FROM TIN CANS---- INTO GLASS,OR PLASTIC ( PREFERABLY SEALED CONTAINERS)WHILE IN THE FRIG---EVER NOTICE THE "ICKY" TASTE THE NEXT DAY FROM V-8, TOMATO JUICE, PEACHES-MOST "ACIDIC" FOODS IF LEFT EVEN OVERNIGHT IN THE TIN CANS IN WHICH THEY WERE PACKED---BEEN TOLD THAT IT THE BAD TASTE RESULTED FROM THE CHEMICAL REACTION OF THE ACID CONTENT OF THE FOOD REACTING WITH THE AIR (OXYGEN), WITH THE METAL OF THE CAN---AND, THAT IT( BECAME) WAS POISONOUS!!!!
