1.Have you cruised the Mississippi River? You might ask around and see if you can borrow a boat and camp along the river at a few campgrounds along the way. There are a lot of places along the Mississippi River to stay overnight, even without a boat. Maybe you could follow "Huckleberry Finn", as a lot of places and resorts along the river are dedicated to him and the author, Mark Twain.
2. Have you been to St. Louis? St. Louis is actually interesting with the giant arch, it smells like beer 24/7, and there are a lot of places to go hear live bands without spending a lot of money.
3. Could you hook up with some tailgaters on their way to the game? Find out who is playing and camp out with the tailgaters. You might score not only dang good barbecue but free tickets to the game as well.
4. Fix up a 'honeymoon palace' in the middle of nowhere in a borrowed trailer or find someone with an empty house and fix it up like a camp for a weekend. Build your dream castles together while you are a 'plain salad' (You know, as in "Lettuce alone, without dressing")
5. Have fun wherever you go. All that matters is that he says yes and you say yes. Everything else is immaterial.
Have fun, good luck, and congratulations!

If you guys like camping that is a great idea but if you are looking for just a 1 night deal maybe stay at a real nice hotel for the night. We went so San Diego about 100 miles from home and went to the zoo we both love going there. Just stayed at the holiday inn. If there is an amusement park or zoo near home you have wanted to go to then this is a good time.

Congratulations! My husband and I did a State Park Honeymoon. We got married over Labor Day weekend and we went to Crater of Diamonds in southern Arkansas and then we went to Hot Springs. We spend four days total out then when home and hid our car for the next three days. We had a great time and the ride (about 6 hours) gave us a great time to talk and just be together. Because when we knew when we got home talking and being alone would be short lived - I brought three kids into the marriage.
Good luck and have fun!

my hubby and I went to moab for a week and rented a condo with a kitchen so I could cook part of our meals in.
this way we could got out bike riding, kayaking, take jeep tours see the national parks (arches was great!) or just rent movies and stay in. it cost 400 for the room for a full week plus food and activities.
We did not want to spend a ton of money on going to a place that we may not want to see and wanted a place that would be fun to walk around, so I would advise that you find a small touristy town within 6-8 hours of where you are getting married and spend a week there, that way the town will be fun to walk around and you won't feel like you have to go out and see everything. Jackson Hole, Wy is also a fun idea but it may be a little cold that time of year.
have fun and congratulations!

Cheapest (and the most brief) honeymoon . . .
I have known some couples who really could not afford a long honeymoon at the time of the wedding. Their solution? Spend the wedding night (yes, one night only) at the nicest local hotel they could afford. After that, they saved up their money and took a second honeymoon (in one case a cruise, in the other case a long trip) a year or two after the wedding.
Good luck to you.

all inclusives in the carribean or mexico i think is the way to go!
Otherwise, choose somewhere you both would really like to visit in the states... like San Fransisco, San Diego, Orlando....Seattle.... Puerto Rico...and you can look for the best deals on flights and hotel rooms online.... the possibilities are endless... and it doesnt have to cost a fortune!
Always tell everyone it is your honeymoon, you may end up with some free desserts, etc. along the way.
this website has some great ideas

Stay at a local bed and breakfast or something. My fiance and I are driving about 3 hours away to a nice little Michigan tourist town.
Oh, and I live in Louisiana (I'm from Michigan) and you HAVE to be 21 to drink in the French Quarter. Saying they don't card is B.S. They have cops on horses roaming the streets, and they check everyone.

When my Aunt & Uncle got married 25 years ago, they were very young & had no money. They went camping for a week and still talk about it today. I think that would be a great way to spend a honeymoon!

i'm recently married and for our honeymoon, my parents (as a gift) paid for a condo (that they have a time share to) in whistler, canada. they also let us use their sky miles. since we where in a condo we cooked in, instead of paying to go out, and all we had to pay for was the activities we did, like zip lining and riding atv's. it wasn't way expensive, especailly since we got about 4,000 dollars from various people as a wedding gift. (alot of people will just come give you money, because they didn't get you something, or know what to get you that you would need).

I am getting married in Oct. too! Congrats!
We are borrowing a motorhome and taking one big road trip. It's warmer than a tent and we are going to see the different states and have plenty of alone time. All that we have to pay for is gas and food. :)
