The question is not what is a healthy weight but rather what is a healthy body mass index. Body mass index is your weight in kilograms divided by your height in meters squared. If you type 'body mass index' into a search engine you will have numerous sites which will calculate your body mass index for you if you input your height and weight. Your height should be carefully measured barefoot and your weight should be taken without clothes first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom. The 95th percentile for the body mass index of a 13 year old male is 25 and that for a 13 year old female is 26. Physicians regard those children and adolescents with a body mass index of 95 percentile and above as being at very high risk for obesity by age 25. A body mass index above 30 kg/m2 for those 18 and over is associated with an increased risk of premature cardiovascular events - think heart attack and stroke. Nonetheless - the 'goal' for the body mass index for someone 18 to 40 is less than 25 not less than 30. depends on height and build. 13 is so young, you still have to develop.
