Is it true that if you hold baby kittens and puppies too much it gives them worms?

My mom always told me that and we just recently got a kitten. My little sister is always holding him and totes him around everywhere even tho we tell her not to. How can we make her stop?

No they are born with round worms. Its good to hold them and play with them if you are being lovable and not mean.

No they can't get worms from being held howevr by being held they can get sick and sometimes stressed which can bring on coccidia which lays dormant in an animal and stress can bring this out.
Try to explain to your niece tht it isn't healthy for her to always be holding teh kitten.
then ask her how would she like to be hel and not allowed to move and you might want to give her a quick example.
Tell her also if she doesn't stop she won't be allowed near the kitten and if you have to lock the kitten up so she can't and i'm sure she will get teh idea

you cant give your pet worms they are born with them just take the kitten to the vet and they will do a test and if she has worms the vet will give the cat a shot (his belly will blow up and make him look kind of gross for a few days but then it will be over.) just make sure you get rid of the worms becasue they can over time kill the cat or dog

Tapeworms come from fleas, roundworms and hookworms come from feces.....you can't give worms to the kitten, but they can give them to you. Be careful handling the kitten if you believe she has worms, wash your hands well after handling the kitten and after scooping the litter box.
