The last live airing on free (over-the -air) t.v. happened monday on Fox until september. I feel that nascar is trying to boost ticket sales at the track,at the expense of the armchair fan. In the meantime they are selling us(armchair fans) out for the pay-t.v. revenue. This move,in my mind, dilutes the meaning of the final point chase. It cheap'ns the whole series. Has nascar sold out to the media? Is this the beginning of the end?

NASCAR made a huge mistake when it began airing some of the races on the cable networks. Even Fans who have cable or satellite don't get all the channels. Some of my Friends will be coming over to my house for races while they are on TNT because their cable service does not carry TNT.

NASCAR is leaving a percentage of it's Fans out by going to the cable networks. In NASCAR's pursuit of all might dollar they may shot themselves in the foot. Yeah they are getting millions from TNT for the six races it will broadcast; but it may lose just as many millions from Fans unable to gain access to races.

Fans buy the tickets, the merchandise, and buy the Sponsor's products. Without hte Fans NASCAR would not be where it is today. NASCAR has fogotten where the real money comes from and I think this Season they may learn that lesson the hard way.

Nascar has ALWAYS been split between free TV and cable TV.
I know, I haven't had cable in 7 year's. After reviewing the Nascar schedule I "finally" broke down and had a dish put in this past Monday!
Besides, I haven't seen the Soprano's since the second season and I finally get cable just in time for the freakin' last episode! At least I can buy the DVDs at Wal-Mart.

Pony up or do what I've had to do for the last seven years...........go to your favorite watering hole Sunday and make them switch the TV to Nascar.
I mean jeez. I remember when all we got was the Daytona 500 and some cheesy 10 minute summaries of SOME of the races on 'The Wide World of Sports '.

First of all NASCAR doesn't need to boast there ticket sales. They are doing just fine weather it's on TV or not. That is why there has been so many of those ridiculous 1.5 mile cookie cutter track built. Not for anything but to pack in 150,000 fans.
NASCAR was paid right around 6 BILLION dollars about 6 years by Fox and someone Else I don't remember who at the moment, to the right to broadcast there races. The time is up thank goodness. So for your information NASCAR sold out 6 years ago and now there just might be chance for it to get good again.
The chase is so wrong I can't believe fans put up with it.
I have went from watching every race down to watching the old original tracks IF I don't have anything else to do. But that just might change now that that horrible TV deal is over.

What planet are you from first of all and is this the first year you have watched Nascar? I mean seriously the last mmmmI dont know 3 or 4 years has been setup in this manner and your complaining about it now? As was said earlier Nascar was on ESPN for years before FOX or NBC got in on the action. Besides what are you going to do when "free" tv is no longer available (I believe in 2009?).

Well so goes the NASCAR contract.
When the contract was announced this was brought up but "the powers that be" said it would not happen. But as we see it has now gone full circle, prior to the contract ESPN showed races .So now we are back to the ESPN cable showing(and the TBS/TNT channels) to the races.
This was does not mean they have sold out the fans but the cattering to big bussiness and the wallstreet crowd has now brought the races.
So from general access T V stations to Cable/Dish channels.Next will be pay-for-view?
At least I have my radio.

I have cable, but I still agree with you. It's kind of like leaving people out by not offering sporting events on network TV.

I think the problem is with the networks though. They are providing less and less sports coverage, so fans have to turn to cable and satellite to watch.

It's sad, but it's all about money and ratings. As long as fewer people are watching sports, the networks won't want to justify dishing out the cash to provide the programming.

Fortunately, NASCAR is doing ok compared to other sports. Baseball and basketball are losing ratings left and right.

PPV isn't for quite some time now, unless you mean NBC and ABC are doing PPV events this season.

I say thank you for FOX being over with. Now maybe the race will be shown on TV instead of just one car at a time. Maybe the tele-ticker for positioning will be more accurate. Maybe more of the weekend package will be aired instead of listening to Larry Curly and Moe (Larry Mac, Darrell Waltrip & Jeff Hammond) do their impression of how they USED to get-r-done..

Bring on ABC/NBC, just going to be different without ol Benny Parsons calling the plays....(RIP)

I think you have your facts wrong. There is going to be a dirt track race on Pay-per-view with all procedes going to Victory Junction Camp. Don;t know what the price will be but it would be a good race.

And look at all your money they still get from you selling that
Public Relations creation. NA$CAR is fixed people, wake up !
