Everyones saying how too much sugar contributes to fat gain, so does that mean by eating more than 4 pieces of fruit a day makes you gain more fat than if you ate 4 pieces of bread (because of the fructose)??

Nope. I am proof infact that you do not gain weight from eating fruit. Actually, i've lost 20+ pounds in a very short time by mainly eating fruit. But I don't only eat fruit because I know protien and other nutrients are important but i'd say my diet is 90-95% fruit. Of course if you over indulge in eatting anything, including fruit, you will gain weight, but with fruit you'd have to eat a very large amount to gain weight

It is possible. Not for everybody but some people.
The thing is that fructose is digested in kidneys and when it is happening the whole body is concentrating on that because its really hard work for kidneys (they go crazy). So if you eat too much fruit - longer time to digest fructose and less time to digest other foods and can lead to weight gain.
