I'm 20 and about 13 stone. Last few months i have been jogging consistently 6 days a week on a 400 metre running track. I started off running 4 laps without a rest then 2 more. Every week i had 1 on, so for eg the next week i would run 5 laps no rest then 2 more. I am aiming to run 12 laps(3 miles) in 22minutes as i am joining the royal marines very soon. However i have encountered a problem, last week i had gotten up2o 9 laps no rest 11 in total, this week i was meant to be on 10 laps no rest 12 in total but i have been stopping after 5 or 6, i have noticed its too hard and i am feeling more tired and less motivational? Does any1 no why this is happening and what i should do? Any informative help would be much appreciated thanks...

I think your muscles are probably a little tired. Instead of running 6 times a week; Try swimming or biking or tennis or something else for at least one of those days, and add another rest day. It might help if you can find someone else to train with too.

Try having whats known as a deload week mate, take a week off where you do as little as possible, light walking, maybe a bit of swimming you'll get the type thing. After that week try again, and you should start to notice improvements. I would suggest its just cumulatative fatique so rest will cure that.

Try a bit more cross training than that mate, especially if your planning on going for the marines, constantly training for one thing isn't good. When you say soon joining I assume you mean go for PRMC, have you got a date yet or are you getting up to a stage of fitness before applying. Try doing your track 3 days a week, a bit of sprinting 1 day a week, hill sprints 1 day, and two days of not running, perhaps swim on one of those non-running days and one total rest day; because it sounds to me you are overexerting yourself. Don't forget to train for your gym test one, and as I assume you're doing that on top of running its more important to take appropriate rest and make sure you don't overexert.

Are you signed up to military fitness and training forums, theres lots of very knowledgable people there (including myself!) with people who have been there done that with regards to all types of military, lots of paras and marines sign on, I'm just a potential like you if oyu're wondering. E-mail me for more info if you want.

good its tough to suppose you get 14 lbs in five weeks... however it's feasible in the event you paintings tough at it and feature a best vitamin... four miles a night time is beautiful well, you traditionally get quicker/extra staying power in the event you keep it up by way of an extended time... which means like within the recreation of soccer you have to be mentally difficult.. while it will get difficult simply preserve going in the event you wanna puke preserve going till you honestly do.. on the grounds that even though it could harm to preserve pushing beyond your limits the agony will depart nearly instantly when you eventually quit.. after which your frame will recognise your going to move farther always so it is going to alter itself to preserve homeostasis longer.
