It's private property, they can have whatever terms they want. BUT, parking information has to be posted. Especially if they tow people. So read the sign. They generally do stuff that is convenient for their potential customers. So if you go a park half a day once, they aren't likely to do anything. But if you work and the area, and park there all day, every day, they are likely to notice and do something. Especially if there isn't enough parking for their customers.

I parked my car at a large mall in Montreal one time and left it there for a weekend (Friday morning to Sunday night), but I would not recommend it everywhere.

First, many malls make a point that the parking is for customers only, meaning that you could be ticketed or towed if you leave your car there for a long time.

Second, no one is necessarily monitoring the parking lot at 3AM when some guy comes to steal your hubcaps.

That depends on the management. some will have you towed an hour after the last store (movie theatre) closes. Some with public transit terminals after the last bus. Mall lots are the responsibility of owners. police will only bother you if you are sitting in your car in a mall lot very late and looking like a drug dealer.

I would say once the mall is closed you risk either being towed or robbed!
At a very large mall they might not notice if you don't enter the shopping center but about an hour after closing you leave your car at your own risk.

legally im not sure, but the mall parking is for customers only and to park there without shopping in the mall is probably a towing offense
