I was just thinking about this phenomenon when looking through some of my favorite quotes. Obviously, this runs off the belief that hell exists; one I don't have. But it is fun to muse about.

Which could be considered better?

Many people have mentioned they believe Hell will have a much better culture, a personal belief of my own. Think about it. Only saints and uber-christians go to heaven. I know all my personal philosophy buddies will be down in hell with me to chat about it.

Also, who wants to be told what to do their whole lives? Well...most theists, actually, considering the basis of your religions, but regardless.

First off: A misquote would not surprise me, lufflies, for the copy I managed to flip through for a few moments was damaged..a lot. @_@ I don't claim to have read and studied Milton's works.

The people coming in here, so sure of themselves, telling me how I'm going to burn for all eternity, amuse me.

Again: Only saints up there. I'd rather suffer with my real friends.

Someone mentioned that I am taking a major gamble: aren't you taking a major gamble, with forming your life about a book?

@ Triple

Wow. xP I'm stupid...because I don't believe in a giant guy who watches us at ALL MOMENTS.

Uh huh.

Mmkay. Again: Suffering with a friend would be better than forsaking them for a world of people I generally don't get along with.

I heard it might be a bit crowded in hell, which would make for poor living arrangements, kind of like in the movies "The Super" with Joe Pesci, no thanks.

Wow, you sure are missing a few things.
I am a teacher of the manuscripts; hell has
no culture. Those who do not "make it" and are judged to perish, follow Satan into what is called the "lake of fire". Since at that time, we will all be in spiritual bodies - all of us, good or bad - this "lake of fire" is an all-consuming fire which not only destroys the spiritual body, but also destroys the soul.
After all enter into it, the lake is also done away with. There is no eternal, unending place of torture, and therefore no possibility of any culture - it would certainly be a very short-lived "culture", thats for sure.
As far as "Heaven" goes, thats wherever God resides, and he is coming here. The Kingdom will be established right here on good 'ol Earth. The Government will be run by a King - thee King, Jesus Christ.
Anyone and everyone who is to exist in the eternity will be living right here on Earth, not up in the clouds somewhere with little fat babies playing harps.
People will be living - they will be working - they will be at peace. Those who enjoy playing a muscial instrument can still enjoy that; those who enjoy mountain climbing can still enjoy that. Those who enjoy a picnic lunch with the family can still enjoy that. We are natural beings; God is SUPERnatural. There will be nothing weird or mystical about it. There will be an absence of pain, suffering, depression, homelessness, lonliness, upset, worry, etc.
Peace of mind will be the norm.
You say "who wants to be told what to do their whole lives?". You are sounding like a five year old when you say that. There is not one person on this planet who does not answer to someone. And, if what you want to do may affect many others, what gives you the right to have absolute carte blanche to do it anyway? In order to have what you are asking, you would have to live completely in isolation, forever. Even the many stories you hear of "hell" (which are by no means accurate) there is someone telling you what to do; many of them even say you are being told what to do while you are being tortured. I think you may not have thought this thing thru, dude.......

The good news is this: You don't have to go to "Heaven". There is a reason we are in this flesh life, and that is choice. You get to sail your own ship. If you sail into dangerous waters, at least you know it was your own decision to do so. You are actually, right now, getting exactly what you desire: complete freedom of choice; you get to have it done your own way. Think those decisions through very carefully.
Bon Voyage, Captain.

You are taking quite a gamble thinking that hell doesn't exist.

You will not be hanging out with your buddies in hell, be sure of that. You will be burning in a lake of fire for eternity. Not just a few decades, but forever.

You should take some time and read up on the subject in the Bible. If I am wrong and there is no hell, then we are both in the same boat, but if I am right, or I should say, if the Bible is right, then you will be making the gravest mistake of your life.

Are you willing to risk eternity on that?

heaven and hell exist here. it is a metaphor/ allegory. Would you be the king of the hood, al capone or some street level punk, or instead serve be a salesman or work at burgerking.

The darkside is powerful, would you romance women for qwik sex or would you be nice and not try to trick or use people. There is good company in hell, be at a rock concert or bar and lots of interesting characters. many of us walk the line♪

i'll tell you my vision of hell from old pictures. a mass of people, scrambling up and being beaten, like running from the zombies in a crowd, people are pulling eachotherdown trying to get up, they're stepping on people trying to get away, in a panicked frenzy to survive. this is the exploitation and violence of people trying to be on top.

it is a metaphor. a way which one lives ones life, it is the decisions you make that will bring you down the path of the darkside and lead you to ruin and a miserable road of struggle. zen is the absence of desire, the sense of security and confidence to stand strong, god forbid you really do find yourself surrounded by zombies but gotta do what you gotta do.

My poor sad stupid friend. This is so insane I don't even know where to begin. Have you ever burned yourself? Was it fun? Would it make the pain less if your buddies all burned themselves too? Well you are all going to get a chance to experience it. Except instead of just burning a finger you get to experience your entire body engulfed in flames. You get the joy of having searing pain for all eternity. Some how I think conversation is going to be the least of your worries. Good luck "musing" over philosophy while writhing in total anguish...and all the while you get to think of all the "saints and uber-Christians" that told you so. Hope that works out for ya.

My on an generic basis answer shrink replaced into reached in the previous, so i could no longer respond while this replaced into published. I additionally like John Milton's "Paradise lost"; fairly how he wrote devil's perspective. i take advantage of many of the poems metaphorically for guy's prideful nature. right here ultimately we can be loose; the Almighty hath no longer geared up right here for his envy, won't force us subsequently: right here we would reign preserve, and in my option to reign is properly worth ambition however in Hell: extra effective to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven!

First of all, no one reigns in hell. There is no "party" going on, no sitting around and remembering the good days. It is torment. Always. Forever.

And where in the world do you get that we "serve" in heaven? The Bible says that we shall REIGN with Jesus! We will rule the earth for a thousand years, and then the new earth forever!

And for all I know, there may be a billion worlds out there that we will be sent to govern, etc.

The Bible is the definitive source on heaven and hell. And there ain't no ruling at all in hell. Just horrific suffering for failing to believe when you could have.

This is a huge lie the Evil One has told. There is no great life in Hell. He hates humans. He wants you to think you will be rewarded but he laughs at how you demean yourselves. You will be eternally tormented and there will be no reward.

The children of Fatima were shown a vision of Hell and it was so terrifying that they immediately started doing all kinds of Penance for sinners in order to keep them from going there.

So do you or don't you believe in hell? if you do, where did this idea come from? If you do believe in hell, the you would believe what god says about hell? it's going to be everylasting torment, Luke 13:26. It's not going to be a party. Being a Christian is the best, it's exciting.

You obviously have no concept of how bad hell can be. You won't have time to do much chatting or intermingling with friends. Screaming in agony might be a more likely scenario.

Heaven is love, peace and harmony.

Are you sure you are really comparing two comparables?

Ah, a quote from Milton, who among other things is responsible for the misrepresentation of hell that most christians use and believe. Eternal flames indeed.
