Not until recently, but yes.

I live in Arizona, and we have nearly as many illegal Mexican immigrants as we do American citizens. I work in management of catered events and restaurants. Within the last few years it has become increasingly difficult to find good positions in this industry. Illegal labor is not only cheaper, and more willing to work in adverse conditions, they are also able to speak with the other illegals who have been hired. I don't know very much Spanish. I can no longer communicate with the bulk of the event servers and kitchen staff, because that is all they speak. Consequently, the jobs I would normally have no trouble acquiring are going to bilingual illegals.

My boyfriend is in the house framing industry, and the truth is, if his company didn't hire illegals they wouldn't have a crew. Maybe 1 in every 100 applicants is actually a legal American.
Who else can they hire? Americans don't want to do hard manual labor in 115 degree temps.

There is no easy answer here. I do resent the fact that I live in a country whose primary language is English, and I can't find a decent job because I don't speak enough Spanish. In all other aspects I have yet to run across an illegal in a position I would want that was actually better qualified than myself in any way but the language. I generally have more experience than these people, and it no longer matters.

What gets me most though, is that most of the illegal Mexicans here that I have met hate Americans. Mexico is taking advantage of our country and we are letting them.

Also worth noting, I've worked several Mexican political conferences in Arizona. From my limited Spanish it is clear that the Mexican population here is doing everything they can to infiltrate our government and mold it to their needs. Not the needs of Americans, but the needs of the illegal immigrants. Our tax dollars are paying these people and Americans are letting it happen. The illegal Mexicans here take more interest in our government than we do.

I would like to add that I am not a bigot. Before this started to affect my job security I had a great deal of sympathy for their situation. Now I feel that before they modify our country to suit them, perhaps they should go fix their own.

the reality of the project is you have been harm via the unlawful aliens in this u . s .. they are utilising the social centers meant for electorate and paid for via YOUR taxes. Many hospitals have had to close as a effect of the illegals searching for wellness care and not being waiting to pay. The call and handle they supply the wellness facility would not exist and so the wellness facility the two eats the fee or passes it directly to the paying customers... so which you pay. As California will become much less waiting to preserve this unlawful migration from Mexico, the unlawful aliens will start to bypass north and east. actually, they have already began, so the subject is not purely the border states yet is rapidly starting to be national. The unlawful alien is popping this u . s . right into a third international u . s . purely like they left. No ask your self Mexico is happy they are long gone. The ILLEGALS coming indexed under are actually not the midsection/top classification with funds and education. NO, they are the peasants without funds, no education, and no force to extra efficient themselves and assimilate into our way of life. So until now you open your mouth and initiate conversing approximately how super that's to get such decrease priced labor and how the unlawful alien concern hasn't harm you, initiate finding around and investigating. you could discover you're being harm in many techniques you probably did not think of roughly. supply that tree homestead job to an AMERICAN CITIZEN and end being a factor of the subject

Okay, so mostly all these answers are about illegal immigrants overcrowding ER rooms and not taxpayers are mad be case everything is higher. Or illegals being drunk so families lost loved ones. But how many U.S citizens don't have health insurance? How many DUI's? How many murders and rapes do you hear about? ALL these people are illegal? NO. People are so closed minded and blame everything on illegals. A human is a human, everyone messes up. There is too much stereotyping out there. You never hear about the illegals that are trying hard to make a better life for themselves.

Yes. Many local construction companies and landscaping companies will only hire illegal immigrants because they can get away with paying them so little and without benefits. I have personally witnessed this for drywalling, roofing, and underground lawn sprinkler installations.

If you are not an illegal immigrant, you have no chance of securing employment with these companies no matter how talented or proficient you are at these jobs. If you want to start up your own landscaping or construction company of any signifant size, you cannot compete with the rates that the companies hiring illegals can offer.

These companies, by the way, charge relatively high prices, and the owners just cash in on the larger profit margin they make by exploiting their cheap labor. I've had owners of the companies brag about this directly to me, saying things like, "I can get 5 of these guys for the price of 1 American worker", and that they don't complain about the work environment and conditions, etc.

And by the way, I live in Michigan. Yes, MICHIGAN. When the illegal immigrant problem is noticeable up here, you'd think people would start to see we have a problem.

Read Rabid Frog's answer for more details and think about how the recent builder's boom cheated America in so many different ways.

Obviously there are many other way's I'm affected personally that others have brought up here like higher taxes, high insurance rates, etc, etc.

Yes, i have been a mason - brick, block, rock etc. - for over thirty years and I started my own business in 1994 to make a lot of $$$$$ and I was until the illegals hit town in droves. Now I can't even find a job as a mason. My pay would be around $28.00 per hour and that is what I would be paying to my employees... but good news my attorneys are preparing a RICO case for me to file very soon that will make the headlines of every paper and tv station in America... they have told me that it will spread across America and become the largest type of suit ever filed and will eclispe the tobacco settlements.

We (my husband and I) own a construction company. We do not hire illegal aliens because it is against the law and I will not put an American taxpayer out of a job for someone who did not have enough respect for the taxpayers to enter this country legally whether that was to work or for permanent residence.

We are now loosing bids to the companies who use primarily illegal labor (which is most in my area except for some of the family run businesses with good reputations), it has always been a competitive area but now it is getting hard to do business. The companies using illegal labor can underbid us enough to get the jobs and increase their profit at the expense of cheap labor. No savings are passed down to the public, they are also underpaying these illegals by a significant amount from what we can tell, as well as working them long and unsafe hours and not following code, which is also bad for the illegal workers. As for benefits for those workers? non existent, pure greed.

That hurts our family business, our employees and their families as well as my family "personally".

Yeah..they did. I found some were living across the street. Got suspicious and got the whole family deported back to Central America. They were working "under the table" not paying taxes and had alot of company for somebody with such a small house. So i called the feds. They raided the place next week. They are gone.

Yes they have. We sold one of our homes to a businessman of Hispanic descent . I live in an upper middle class neighborhood ..this man went ahead and rented it to about 40 people, I find beer bottles in the street, I have to listen to Spainish music at all hours. The yelling the fighing the noise, its rude and annoying and i never know who actually lives there, because there is 100 of them...at one point 3 of the young women were pregnant...The LANDLORD does not call us back... They do not maintain their yard and its part of their lease....So my neighbors and I end up picking up their garbage,,,So you tell me, Does that effect me???

Yep. I married one. Still married and very happy. He's a good guy, he works harder than anyone I know, he takes care of me, and he would do ANYTHING to become legal. So I hope this legislation passes. It used to be that if you married a US citizen you could become a citizen too but since he entered illegally he can't. I understand that they quit that because too many illegals were marrying just to get the greencard but I think if two people truly love each other and can prove it somehow, someway, then the person should be able to stay and become legal. And I don't care how many people hate me for being married to an illegal, he is a person like anyone else and I should be able to love whomever I want to love. He's never done any harm to any american, nor does he go to the emergency room when he is hurt, he has a doctor he pays cash too, he has a valid drivers license, and auto insurance, a bank account, and taxes come out of his check every week. He works 7 days a week so that we both can have the things we want and need and he certainly treats me better than any legal american guy ever has!!!
