Yes it can, but only if you know that you are in love with him and are willing to wait for him as long as it takes to be with him. My boyfriend is also in the military and is stationed in a state far from mine, but at the moment he is on his second deployment since we've been together in Iraq. If you believe that the two of you can trust eachother to be apart for long periods of time without cheating, then i think you should be fine. But also think, you can save up money and go visit him in Hawaii!! and he will also be able to take leave and come home and visit too.. so its not like you are goin to go years without seeing eachother. Good Luck!

It depends upon your ages and how committed to each other you are.
One thing which would help is to get phone service where you wouldn't have to pay high long distance charges. I am not sure if some of the cell phone plans which give you unlimited minutes as long as you are talking to a customer of the same company would extend to Hawaii or not. It is worth a shot to check. You might also check AT&T's One Rate plan and see if it covers Hawaii on your home long distance.
Staying in touch as mush as possible will help this long distance relationship work, but it will be difficult for both of you.

Yes. I was in a long distance relationship with my husband for 2 years before we finally married. He was stationed far away from me. If you both care and love each other and WANT the relationship to lead somewhere and make it long term, then you both have to agree and just work for it. It is possible

uhmmmm It can work if you two are BOTH willing to work at it and do the things needed to maintain a long distance relationship. They aren't easy and you will be tempted alot by guys that are where you are but if you truly care about each other and are determined to stay together then it can. Otherwise it's a waste of time...

I had a boyfriend for 5 years who lived 6 states away. We hardly ever saw each other, but there is a lot to be said for a romantic letter or talking on the phone all night. It's tough, but if you love someone, anything is possible.

I think it depends on the kind of relationship you have.... If you guys have alot of trust for one another and care enough about eachother, absolutely I think it can work!! Nobody's sayin it's gonna be easy but if you really try hard and hang in there you'll make it! Good luck sweetie!

As long as your love is strong enough it will most likely last however if your or his heart begins to waver it might not last. the one you love will always be with you in your heart no matter how far apart you two are in distance.

No. Human beings have this undeniable need to be together to have a relationship. Phones, emails, texts and IM's don't replace holding hands, hugs, looking into each other's eyes and talking.
He'll be having adventures there and you'll get jealous, then he'll feel guilty for enjoying his life, and you'll feel him pull away. You'll argue and nag, and he'll finally end it.
