I would suggest an inexpensive Chardonnay as the white wine....such as Edna Valley Chardonnay. (I saw this at Costo recently for less than $8 a bottle).

For the red wine I'd go for Rosenblum Zinfandel Cuvee (recently on sale at Cost Plus for around $8.).

These are 2 value wines that are great buys for the price.

I think it depends on what you mean by "blush". Are you looking for something sweet? White Zin has a reputation for "inexperienced drinkers" and is largely looked down upon by most "afficianados". However, german riesling would be a great substitute. most of them are very affordable, and while sweet, also have excellent acidity. In my opinion they are an excellent food wine. If you meant blush as a dry rose, I think that might be an option that would work well. Personally I would serve a full bodied rose champagne, only from champagne france of course (it is a wedding). but I think that money would narrow the options on this decision quickly. with the beef I would recomend a dry red wine. Syrah, or a "Cotes du Rhone Rouge" would be a nice inexpensive choice. for white wine, I would probably prefer something full bodied. Chardonnay is always popular but not always the best with food. Gruner Veltliner is one of the best food wines out there. hope this helps!

My dear... The old ways and rules of wine paring with certain foods no longer apply. Today, foods and wines are always about taste. It doesn't matter if you pair a nice red wine with chicken or a white wine with fillet Mignon. When selecting a wine, it should always be about the taste. In my opinion as a chef, I would very much go with a blush wine. Personally speaking, I would even choose a dessert wine over a table wine any day. I prefer the sweetness over the dry and acidic wines. But there is also something else to keep in mind... At this reception, who are you trying to entertain or service to? Is this event about you or is the event is about your guest? The reason I ask this, is because as a chef, it is my job to cater to my guest and give them what they want. It doesn't matter what my likes are, but rather to create their desires and taste. So if you think that your guest are not to experience or understanding about wine, then go with something sweet and not bitter or dry. That is my suggestion and I hope that I have been of some use to you.

Most weddings I have worked usually serve a choice of a red or a white. I recommend a nice merlot and a savignon blanc. Chalk Hill makes a good sav blanc and Red Rock is a good merlot. If you are looking for something a little sweeter you could go with a Riesling but it is usually served as a dessert wine.

For a Blush Wine I would go with Beringer White Zinfandel, And for a white I would Almaden Chablis, These two wines are fairly good and won't hurt your budget. Blush is a wine they remove the skin of Zinfandel grapes that produce that Blush color!!!!

Blush isn't a wine, there are no pink grapes.
