It is part of some people bible. But it was removed for quote a long time due to the fact that they felt it was obscene.

Find me ONE verse in the Bible that says THE BIBLE. That speaks ONLY of the 66 books canonized as THE BIBLE. Sure, you can give me verses that say "scripture" and "God's word" and similar phrases, but that does NOT mean THE BIBLE. This is only an assumption you make. Because when Moses or Isaiah, or Peter or Paul or any of the other authors of the Bible wrote their words down, there was no such thing as THE BIBLE. So, how could they write about something that didn't exist?

Revelation 22:18 says that MAN cannot add to the book of REVELATION. Why does this not mean THE BIBLE? Because when John wrote his revelation, WAS there such a thing as THE BIBLE? No, there wasn't. There wasn't even a New Testament. So, how could John write about something that didn't exist?

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Technically, the entire New Testament is adding to His words, as shown here in books in the OT. You can say "But they are God's words!" and guess what? SO IS THE BOOK OF MORMON!!! And you can't prove it's not.

That's how we can justify it.

That, and the testimony of the Holy Spirit of God. God NEVER lies. If God tells me that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, then who are you, or anyone, to tell me it's not?

Sorry this sounds so hostile, but this just sort of rubs me the wrong way, that you just don't even seem to want any sort of answer that isn't what you WANT to hear.

Why is it that GOD cannot add to His word whenever He wants?

Exactly what Wahnote said. You took the words right out of my mouth.
The word Bible comes from the Greek "Biblia" which means a library of books. That is why it is called the Bible, because it is a compilation of sixty six books, not just one book.
John while on the Isle of Patmos was referring to the book of Revelations, the Bible was not compiled until 267 years later. In fact some of the books in the New Testiment were written after the Book of Revelation. He wrote the Gospel of John and 1st 2nd and 3rd John after he wrote the Book of Revelation. If we accepted your interpritation John would be condemning himself. Plus Joseph Smith never suffered the plagues mentioned because he did not violate John's warning. Also there is the verse in Deuteronomy. If God was referring to the entire Bible from that point we would have to throw out 61 of the 66 books.
Why is Revelation the last book?
In 150 AD a man named Marcion compiled the first "New Testiment" which was made of only 11 books. He excluded the other writings including Revelation due to personal beliefs. It wasn't until 367 AD, without original texts availible, a man named Athanacius revised Marcion's earlier edition. He was not a prophet or apostle or ordained in any way, nor did he claim he recieved a divine assignement. He excluded books in Marcion's edition and added others according to his judgement. The Book of Revelation was one of those additions.

Okay, first the Book of Mormon is NOT an addition to the Bible. It is not changing the Bible. It is an additional book, another Testament of Christ. It was written by a completely different people in a completely different part of the world.

I am going to guess that you are referring to the quote in Revelations. Right?

Revelations was chronologically not the last book written by John. Look it up.

That verse was specific to the BOOK OF REVELATIONS.
There is an identical passage in Deuteronomy 4:4. So by your logic, you would have to remove from Deuteronomy through Revelations.

It is obvious, after reading your additional comments that you don't actually care why we have the Book of Mormon, or what the Book of Mormon is about. Why don't you try READING it (and I mean all of it...) before you judge it? And if you are right and we're wrong, well then be content in that knowledge.

Ask them why they get their Holy Scriptures like the "Book of Abraham" from traveling circuses instead of God. Joseph Smith purchased 2 mummies and their burial scrolls from a traveling circus in 1838. Back then nobody could read Egyptian yet and ol' Joey wanted to impress his new flock of believers . He proceeded to "Translate" the burial scrolls and the end product was the "Book of Abraham" allegedly an original document written by Father Abraham himself over 4000 years ago. Amazingly, as the current story goes, "Very well preserved and still rollable". Naturally they somehow lost it and now nobody knows where it is. But they didn't loose the burial scrolls that were also purchased with the mummies. Facsimiles of the burial scrolls were published by the church in the pearl of great price and represented to be the Book of Abraham . Undeniable proof of the prophetic power of Joseph Smith. That is, until the Rosetta Stone was discovered and Egyptian could be translated. When the Egyptologists arrived to examine the Book of Abraham papyri, they found them to be ordinary burial documents for the mummies they came with. Total Fraud. I don't know what the official church line is on this one but members claim the existence of the rollable 4000 yr scroll that is allegedly now lost.
If true, the Book of Abraham would have been the most astonishing archaeological discovery of all time. A "well preserved rollable scroll" written by Father Abraham himself over 2000 years older than the Dead Sea Scrolls. But, oops, they lost it. I suggested to one of my Mormon acquaintences that instead of going to church on Sunday we should go to the circus. The kids all agreed. I told the parents that instead of 10% of your income it would be about 25 bucks. We might even run into some new Scriptures out there for the Prophet to translate. I hear the books of Isaac and Jacob have been floating around over at Ringling Brothers.

First, you ask a question and then tell us that our answers are wrong and that we don't know what we believe in. So then your telling me that after being a member my whole life and gaining my own testimony of the truthfulness that you can answer a question better than those who practice the faith. No one is trying to justify anything, because there's nothing TO justify. The book of mormon is not adding anything to the bible. it's an entirely different book. it is ANOTHER testiment of Jesus Christ as it plainly states on the cover. It's like Batman 1 and 2. Or any sequel for that matter. They are not the same movie, but they have the same idea. Don't be so quick to judge. You don't have to believe it yourself, but i would expect, as a christian that you could show a little more respect for others religions, and maybe even open your heart and mind to the idea that we might have a better idea of what we believe in than you might. I don't pretend to know what you believe in, because im not you, and i don't practice your specific denomination. But i do respect whatever diffrences there might be from my own beliefs.

First of all, when John wrote the revelation, the Bible did not exist, so what John inplied was not to add or subtract from the book of Revelation:

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
(New Testament | Revelation 22:18)

John clearly imply "This book" to be the Book of Revelation.
He could not implicate a book thta did not exist at his time.

If you disagree, how do you explain what Moses wrote?

2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
(Old Testament | Deuteronomy 4:2)

by Moses wrote, does that mean everything after that are not acceptable as scriptures? does it?

Secondly, The book of Mormon is not another Bible, if you read it, you would have known that, but most of you ignorant "mormon experts" just too proud to have a open mind, and too pig headed to comprehend such basic doctrine.

Well here we go again. The message of the redeemer is muddled by religious doctrine once again. Is a magazine or a bible help an amendment to Gods word that should be condemned? Why don't we concentrate on getting the message of the good news out there? Whats the good new? God kingdom on earth is coming soon! Wars and sin and death and hades will be no more! Gods Great day of judgment will come soon. That is the good news! Jesus has made a way for us to have our sins removed.Turn to him and do the will of the father. Is that hard? Satan makes it hard to live in harmony with the will of God. This world we live in right now is Satan's world. Come out of Satan's world and God will protect you and welcome you into his fold. And God will wipe away every tear, no more sadness, because the former things of this old world will no longer be. Lets worry about such things as that and not which vehicle we take towards God.As you may or may not know God loves christian,Jews and Muslims,as well as anyone who will turn toward Him.

The Book of Mormon isn't added to the Bible it is a completely seperate book.
It is ANOTHER testament of Jesus Christ just like it says on the cover.

The verses in the book of revelations that state that nothing should be added to or taken away from...are talking ONLY about the book of revelations. The book of revelations was not the last book written that is just how it was compiled because it talks about future prophesy. If those verses were talking about any thing written after that 25% of the new testament would be adding to the bible. Of course everybody knows that the Bible is COMPILED OF 66 SEPERATE BOOKS. not just 1.

reported! reported for being stupid! i'm not sure what the book of mormon is all about, but the bible was not written in chronological order!!! therefore, anything written after the book of revelations would have to be considered "added to!"

hahaha.......i guess retarded christians think that john the revelator, after writing revelations, took the final product straight to the printing presses?

hello you morons, the bible wasn't even compiled for another 2 or 3 hundred years after john wrote that!!!!

i guess you could ask the protestants why the hell they took out a good chunk of the old testament, when the catholic bible contained them..........

p.s. learn how to spell

I agree with a lot of the previous answers and can only add one more thought on the subject.

The verses that I think you are referring to in The Book of Revelation, state that man cannot add to the book. But it certainly doesn't say that God can't. It never says that God will quit revealing things to man and that they should record them as scriptures. It's happened since Adam, and there is no reason for it to stop aside from the wickedness of men and our ability to receive and understand.
