Well this really isn't a "christian" question but I will say that the "right" thing to do is untangle the dog then, find a way to keep him from getting tangled again. If it's not your dog then try to contact the owners and explain to them that you've noticed that their dog gets tangled and perhaps they can do something about it. If it's endangering the dogs life then you need to call the SPCA. These are the right AND Christian things to do.
I hope this helps.

Well Elle ... depends on what kind of Christian you are talking about:

. If you are a bible-thumping, Ted Haggard, Jerry Falwell kinda Christan ... you just preach to the dog that God is just testing them or punishing them for humping their leg. Although Ted Haggard would be a bit more understanding on the humping and send the dog to rehab.

The "hand-wringing", evangelical will pray mightily and ask God to untangle the chain .. and lay hands on the dog. Then leave knowing that "God will provide in God's time."

The mainline Christian will seek knowledge and pray . . . "Jesus Christ, how did manage to do this?" He/She would untangle the dog, give it some affection, and walk off with the dog in tow. Later they would examine the chain set-up to see how they could minimize future tangles.

They might call on their atheist, moslem, or Jewish dog-owning neighbors to see if they have a better idea how to prevent this muck-up in the future. He/she would let their dog play with the neighbors' dogs while they all sat around and had a BBQ together with their families.

I think the Christian thing to do would be to call the humane society. Anyone who just leaves a dog chained has no business having an animal.

I think it is actully....if not Christian it's just good moral. Think about it with a little kid and there mother. The little kid knows how to walk so he or she is trying their hand at running. THe run and fall down the mother picks them up, so they run some more and once again falls down and the mother picks them up once again. And this may happen numurous amoun tof times and even if the child can get up on its own or isnt hurt the mom picks them up knowing they are going to fall again. I think the reason for this is out of the godness of your heart and your morals you can not turn your back on someone (or something) even though you know they are going to get in the sistuation again.
-Hope I helped.

the human thing (not just christian thing) to do is to unchain the dog, or to fix the chain so it will not get tangled. (it is possible).

What the in the hell does that have to do with being a christian? I held the door for a person in a wheelchair the other day and I am not a sheep. Being humane and nice has nothing to do with religion.
