I'm having a very small low budget church wedding. The small reception will include some finger foods and of course the cake. I'm not serving a meal or anything. Problem is there is no room for tables(round) or any for that matter. Would it be tacky to not provide seating since there is no "sit down" dinner?

That depends on how long the "Reception" is. I attended a friend's wedding where they had cake and some small finger foods after the ceremony and there was no seating. No one thought anything of it, but the "reception" only lasted an hour tops. If it is longer than that, then you may want to get some sort of seating, even if it is just chairs and no tables.

Are you inviting kids? Kids are just not talented enough to hold a plate with one hand while eatting with the other hand. They have to have some place to set that plate down.

Elderly as well. Or anyone with disabilities just can't stand for 2 solid hours.

Try putting just some lil tables just big enough to set a few drinks on. Like the outdoor tables or a couple card tables.

But you definitely need to have chairs for 40% of the people there. If the reception isn't big enough for that, consider opening it up with some chairs outside as well so they can walk in and out.

Seating should always be provided for "the disabled" or "senior citizens." Providing a few folding chairs will help. Just remember . . when you do not provide seating for your guests they will not stay long. The type of meal you are having has no bearing on this, it's just common courtesy to provide a few chairs for your guests.

Seeing your not feeding them a dinner you don't need fancy table setting but come on you have to have some kind of seating if it's more than 30min. reception that does sound tacky and your guest will probably be very uncomfortable

some people will need to sit even if there are only little tables for drinks to be put on. thenik of all ages... and how painful your feet can be in the wrong shoes.. make a few little areas of 5-6 chairs where people can sit and relax

No it's not tacky. I'd have chairs though. Some people can't stand up for long periods of time.

you do need to provide somewhere for your guests to sit or they will only stay for 10 minutes. do you really expect them to eat their cake standing up?
