Ice is a great fat-free treat for dogs. Anytime I fill up a drink I always give them each a cube. I also put ice in their water bowls on hot days. Just watch out for the melted ice on the floor. My two year old and I have ended up our our behinds a time or two =)

I don't think that ice cubes will affect a dog's health. Unless the water used to make it is contaminated, the dog shouldn't be in any risk. Just think of ice as really cold water. My dog likes his water cold, so i have used ice cubes for quite some time without any troubles.

Hope this helps :-D

My beagle loves ice cubes too! Its funny watching him take it and spit it out because its cold. I know what your talking about, and the same thing goes for dogs like humans. Giving icy cold water when the dog is very hot or overheated can be harmful. Best to wait until the dog has cooled off a little bit. Just becareful the dog doesn't swallow the ice by mistake and choke. Also look in your grocery stores freezer section. Purina company makes doggie ice cream, i forgot what its called. (just an idea) =]

One ice cube is fine, but depending on the size of the dog, a lot can be dangerous. Too many ice cubes can lower the dogs core temperature enough that it would be like having hypothermia. For a very small dog, such a a Yorkie, this may be as few as one or two. For a large dog, like a golden retriever, up to five ice cubes at once would not be dangerous.

Ice cubes are a great alternative to high calorie snacks for dog in the summer. Make sure they are not too small for the dog to swallow whole and get caught-the ice will melt but the dog will panick. You can add a little fruit juice to them to make them more of a treat or even chicken or beef broth. I make mine beef, chicken and tomato juice cubes all summer long and they love them.

No, my Lab loves ice cubes he even thinks they are treats and I will put them in a bucket of water and he bobs for them. It is the funniest thing. He will stick his whole head under water just to get an ice cube

No ice cubes per say aren't bad as long as tehy aren't to small that the dog can choke.
If you are afraid of that thenI put large cups of water in my freezer for my great dane.
or some people will use a bowl to freeze water in.
As a matter of fact my vet suggested it was good for tehm again just to watchthat they can't choke on it due to size.

No this is not dangerous as long as she is chewing them up good and not getting chocked at all. You may also want to have her checked out for an iron deficency. The reason i say this is because if a person eats alot of ice is because they have one. Moso animals and humans have alot more in common than most people think.
