Hello, everyone. I'd like some opinions on this.
I am 20 years old, female, 5"4", 132 pounds, and a size 8/10. Would you consider me fat, thin, average, or...? I know that I'm not exactly "fat", but I'm not "thin" either. Maybe "average"?
I feel fat. I know that I'm not overweight, that I'm at what is considered a "healthy" weight, but I FEEL fat. I used to be a size 18, so at least I'm not as fat as I used to be.
Another thing is I used to be anorexic and bulimic and in the past year or so, while in recovery, I put on a lot of weight. It's really difficult because at my sickest, I was a size 0, so being a size 8/10 now makes me feel horrible about myself. I feel so uncomfortable with my body and it makes me want to cry. I feel like a whale. I want to diet to lose some weight, but I know that if I do that, I'll go out of control again and end up sick.
Please tell me what you think. I need some opinions.

Hi,
Well first of all I can tell you that your at a very healthy range. i think that size 8/10 is most girls dream size. Well im 5 ft 7 and the same dress size as you. Its perfect. Its great that you've lost the weight as you said you were a size 18. But starving yourself was not the best way. Just please don't do that again. I know its hard when you've worked so hard to loose it and have to put it back on again. Seriously i should just stick to your weight. Just eat 3 meals a day. Include veggies, meat etc. Don't snack in between meals. Eat fruit if you get hungry.

You are beautiful!!!
Well congrats for being in recovery!!!
The average woman in America is size 14.
You appear quite normal and healthy actually.
You've done what most people can't- stabilized your weight!!!
It's difficult to adjust in your new body.
You said you were a size 0 and used to be a size 18, so a size 8/10 would feel huge but it's not. You are beautiful and have always been.
Are you in counseling now for the anorexia/bulimia? I mean to help you with how you see your body. It may help to talk to someone...good luck.

Your BMI is 22.6 which is in the healthy range of 18.5-24.9, which is great. And at a size 8/10 I doubt that anyone in their right minds could call you fat, so don't stress. You're not a whale. If you do want to lose some weight... which you don't really need to, do it by eating healthily, you'll feel better and the weight would come off naturally...
But really if you used to suffer from an eating disorder I wouldn't really recommend trying to lose weight
Anyway, hope this helps xx

If you feel uncomfortable the only thing to do is to change it.
Go outside. Go for a walk.
Research nutritious food options.
Join a gym and sign up for a personal trainer.
Food in, energy out.
Your body is a machine that runs on fuel (food). People have created emotions attached to our bodies.
You can choose to buy into it or choose not to.
For heaven's sake, STOP reading crap "celebrity" magazines that go on and on about who is too thin, who is too fat, yadda, yadda, yadda.
Go to the men's section of magazines at the newstand. See any that tell men who is fat and who is not? You won't find it because men, generally speaking, mind, do not buy into their bodies being who they are in life. They tend to, once again, generally, judge each other on their merits and accomplishments.
You have ONE life. If you feel so bad that you want to cry about your weight. Do something and do it now.
Turn off the computer, put on your shoes and walk for 100 steps.
Tomorrow, walk for 120 steps. The next day 150 steps and so forth. Without realising it, you will be running.
Find out what foods are good for you and what foods are not good for you.
You are not your body. You are allowing your emotions to be attached to your body. Stop thinking about your body. That is why you will also need to address the underlying cause of why you are using your body in place of something else you aren't dealing with in life.
Speak to a good counseller as well.

from a fellow was a size 18, now an 8, trust me lovey, YOU AIN'T FAT.
your suffering a common problem after losing weight, residual self image.
my husband has to come shopping with me as more often than not i will pick up the size 18 & not an 8!
anorexia will mean you are even more prone to suffer this "stuck being fat " give it a few more years & trust me, it will go.
look around you, watch the clinically obese struggle to lose weight & blame everything from big bones to the fat gene.
fat or thin we all do it, it's human nature.
congratulate yourself as you've done so well,
don't knock yourself down, when there's plenty of people prepared to knock you down just for being thin, don't help them, eh?
give it time, this uncomfortable feeling will pass.
congrats to you from me,
a fellow was insecure girl, but now proud of myself & happy in the skin i'm in.

Congratulations--you're perfect! :) I wish I had a body like yours. Here's how I found out:
Go to http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/
Enter your weight and height
Read the results.
Your BMI is 22.7, which puts you right smack in the middle of the "Normal Weight" category. You don't need to diet. A size 8/10 is small, but lovely. Appreciate yourself as a woman! Women need curves--they were designed to have them. Rearrange your idea of what beautiful is--third-world starvation victims aren't really beautiful: they're starving. You are beautiful because your body is running exactly as it should be. It's right where it's happiest. Enjoy that! :) Don't feel like you have to be any thinner. You ARE thin. Love yourself.

Intellectually, you know you're not fat, but emotionally, you are still addicted to the idea of thinness. Check out a group counseling center in your local area. You need to be with people who are suffering from the same condition. You are going to be in a life-long struggle with your weight, just as an alcoholic or a drug addict who has "recovered" really never recovers, but needs to continue fighting the addiction. Nothing anyone says here can really help you. You need one on one contact with other people in your situation.
