never use baking soda on your dogs teeth...
go without a few sodas or cups of coffee or trips to town and save that money for the doggy toothpase
Sacrifice... you can just brush without anything.

Do NOT use baking soda. They are going to swallow it and probably not like it. NEVER EVER use human toothpaste. The flouride can be dangerous.
You can get a triangle toothbrush and tube of paste for $8.00. It should last a few months as you only need to do it about twice a week. I am not trying to sound mean, but dogs are like children and if you cannot afford their health-care needs you really shouldn't have one.
If desperate, I would make a paste of something like peanut butter and ground up cereal like bran flakes (NOT FROM A RAISIN BRAN BOX) please, to give it a gritty texture. My dogs love peanut butter.

try a little baking soda mixed with chicken or beef stock instead of water...doggy will like it..but seriously, I paid 4 bucks for a tube at petco and have had it for six months...

dip a wet toothbrush in baking soda people brush their teeth with baking soda and I don't see why it wouldn't work for dogs
