Do NOT use baking soda. They are going to swallow it and probably not like it. NEVER EVER use human toothpaste. The flouride can be dangerous.

You can get a triangle toothbrush and tube of paste for $8.00. It should last a few months as you only need to do it about twice a week. I am not trying to sound mean, but dogs are like children and if you cannot afford their health-care needs you really shouldn't have one.

If desperate, I would make a paste of something like peanut butter and ground up cereal like bran flakes (NOT FROM A RAISIN BRAN BOX) please, to give it a gritty texture. My dogs love peanut butter.

1) get a brush
2) get toothpaste
3) squeeze toothpaste on the brush
4) brush your dog's teeth with it.

You can use baking soda paste (mix baking soda with water) as long as it doens't have any fluoride in it.
