I let some guy and his girlfriend cross the street yesterday, and it was a 5-minute ordeal! I usually jog across, or speed-walk at least. They just walked very slow, and just stared at me. Watch out pedestrians, cuz I'm not letting anyone else go!

haha good answers everyone.

By the way, neither was overweight. And they both were probably between 13 and 16 years old. And it was not in a crosswalk; jaywalkers!

I personally try to move quickly through cross walks to be considerate of others. Some people just think that they are the most important person in the world and have no respect or consideration for others. They probably don't feel very good about themselves and that is why they treat others badly to try to make themselves feel better. It never really works. Try not to get worked up because others are rude, not worth it to raise your own blood pressure. I know that is very hard sometimes though, especially when you are a person who tries to be considerate of others and don't get it in return.

"let" "cuz I'm not letting anyone else go!"
At a cross walk - what state? It is not a case of "letting" it is the law in many states that pedestrians have the right of way in a crosswalk and some abuse it. On the other hand, some people can't move faster. Thank the Lord you can walk quickly, I can't any more.

It's a power thing. The pedestrians know that they have the upper hand because you can't drive until they move out of the way, otherwise you'd hit them and be liable for their injuries. So they want to show you that they have the power: "I'll get to the other side of the street when I'm good and ready."

Pedestrians sense they're extra appropriate than absolutely everyone else. They sense they supersede the "precise of way" rule. do no longer say it is not genuine, via fact i'm like that, maximum folk are too. yet in many circumstances i'm quickly crossing streets, fairly significant roads.

I've noticed that too - All of these answers have much truth in them...

The other day I was driving past a middle school that just was released for the day and a kid, even though I've had a green light for a while, just walks right out, so I stopped and he looked at me and gave me a little smart *** smile so I pulled my ebrake to slide and scare him then I did a burn out for atleast 7 seconds.... Yeah when he got home he had to change his underwear I'm sure... Lil B*s*a*d

I would have honked at them. Some people think they are the greatest thing to cross the street, highly unlikely. And I bet you those people who walk slowly are the ones (not you obviously) that get impatient when others do it or they dont let people cross at all. Ungrateful pedestrians is what you got.

I have found that every time I let teenagers cross, they walk as slow as possible. I think it is the rudeness of the generation. I too try to cross as fast as possible and teach my kids to do the same. Some parents just don't care enough to teach their kids manners anymore. It is a sad state of our nation! And just think....in 20 years the children of these teens will be around. Can you imagine how rude and inconsiderate they will be?

One or both could have arthritis in their hips/legs or have another medical situation.
If they were at a crosswalk they had the right of way and everyone should allow them the right to cross.
I am like you and try to get across as soon as possible so I don't get driver's upset.

If you are in California, they have right of way even if they are J walking. Also there is no specified speed limit for pedestrians :)
Anyway, I think it is better for you to let them pass. Don't let ones bad behavior change you good behavior.
