There is a link between repressed sexual urges and sex crimes. PBS did a very thorough documentary on this and I am convinced that the Catholic Church's hate for homosexuality coerced "good Catholic" men who were homosexuals into the priest hood. Since their sexual urges never fully matured, they ended up abusing boys, girls, and adult women.
I'm not saying all priests are like this. I'm not saying that Gay people are child molesters (most child molesters are straight), but I am saying that repressing sexual urges, especially to the extreme of the preisthood, and especially if the choice is made in the prime of a young man's life, is unhealthy and has drastic consequences.
I'm not a Catholic, so I have no say. But I think erasing celibacy from priesthood could strengthen the Catholic Church.

I still don't think people will know what you are actually trying to ask.
Are you equating a "man's right to choose" the priesthood with a "woman's right to choose" an abortion? !?
celibate priesthood: Good
Abortion: Bad

what is it with your obssession with the priesthood and abortion? it is not a good or bad choice to join the priesthood, it is a personal choice just like having an abortion is a personal choice. if you want to parallel them, both of them: are personal choices, not good or bad but a path taken based on certain cirmcomstances.

Err....They are both bad choices.
Well the priesthood is OK with me, it is just that I think a lot of guys think that it is going to suppress sexual feelings that they are having and feel guilty about. Then it doesn't work out.

Joining the priesthood and having an abortion are both choices. Period. You may say one is wrong or right, while someone else says the opposite. Let it go.

It's the same thing. If you have an abortion, a human life is ended. If you enter a celibate priesthood, you never create human life and thus "spill the seed" (inevitably) which is specifically prohibited by the Bible.

I don't understand who has been saying that entering the priesthood is a bad choice.
Has someone said that because you choose not to have children that is equal to someone choosing to murder their baby?
Because that's just stupid.

We are *not* killing children with abortion. Children are already born, living outside the womb. Living and breathing entities. Is an embryo a breathing living entity? No, it's a symbiotic realtionship, therefore not living and breathing on it's own. It depends on the host for survival.

God has given us the freedom of choice.....and we should follow Gods example, and do the same to others.
