Utorrent >.<?

Question

So i have been using Utorrent for some time, but i still know vary little about it. When i use it i basically loose all internet connection, but it still shows in the tools try that i'm connected. I, on an average basis, don't get vary high on download speed, regardless of the peers. I have DSL high speed internet and 1GB or RAM (yes i had it upgraded). one one download i had 31 peers but on averige i was getting about 8KB/S. Some one told me to disable the UPnP Port Mapping (I'm not sure why), should that be turned back on? I have a spy scanner and and anti virus, so i don't thing that its any of that and my virus scanner all so checks for (internet) Hijackers. HELP PLEASE!

I have a router and my computer is hooked up wirelessly. The Light at the bottom is yellow.

i would probably try using a different torrent provider there are alot out there azureus, bit lord and even limewire can download torrents
if you can't get above 8kb/s it will be something to do with the firewall settings, your computer or possibly the router (if you have one)

Alright, first you need to see if your router supports UPnP.
If it does, enable it in uTorrent.

If it doesn't, (and i still do this regardless of whether UPnP is enabled) open the port by accessing your router software setup page and make sure you find out your computers IP address (start--->run--->---"cmd"---->"ipconfig") and enable your computer at, say 192.168.1.7 on port 65478.

What does the icon on the status bar say? Green, yellow, or red? How ARE you connected to the Internet?
