One of the greatest of the women of the Tuatha de Danaan, she was a woman of poetry, healing, and smith's work. Her name came from Breo-saighit, meaning a fiery arrow. She was daughter of the Dagda and, by Bres, mother of Ruadan.

It seems only fit and proper for a man from Ireland to respond to a question about Irish myth.

Never confuse Constantine's Roman Universal "Church", with the term "Christians. In order to unite the subjects of his collapsing empire, Constantine declared that all his subjects were now "Christians". How to please everybody? Keep the same pagan gods, but give them "Christian" associations. So, now, we have "St. Christopher" protecting travellers, instead of the god Hermes (or, Mercury).

Anyone who could not have cared less, would readily have ascribed to Constantine's new religion. Anything to keep life smooth and easy-going.

Druids revered them, that is true. But it is absolutely certain that no genuine follower of the Lord Jesus Christ ever bore reverence for any pagan Celtic deity - [cloud-travelling race of mythic Irish people, their imagined heroes (Brighid/Brigid) or otherwise].

Sincerely,

Philip Livingstone

Brigid, obviously. Like much of Celtic history/mythology, she has been Christianized.

Brigit/Bridget/Bride... one of the "Children of Danu". It's also rumored that she was one of the few female druids.

Sounds like (St.) Brigid, but I don't know any more than that.
