I left a really good job 2 yrs ago to stay home a raise my newborn triplets. There was plenty of notice, not bridges burned. In fact my boss wasn't suprised at all that I need to resign. two years later I really need to go back to work and the job market is slow. My former boss is now an EVP at that company. I have applied to a couple of positions there that have opened up but no luck. I am thinking of calling her to see what I can do about improving my odds of getting an interview with a few openings coming up in her department. I just don't know how to word it properly. Any suggestions?

If she still works there and you would like to work there, I dont see why not. Give her a call and tell her that you put in your resume and/or coverletter and she can take it from there.

I can't see why not. I would call her and ask her if she needs any help in her dept, that your ready to go back to work. If she is high up on the company ladder she may not know you applied for a job.

It will not hurt to ask.

Call her up and let her know that you are back on the market and was wondering if the company had a position that you are qualified for.

That should get it.

If you had a really close relationship call her up and make a lunch date - then you can casually drop the hint you are looking

By the way - pick up the tab
