Muslims have been sent into the world to continue the effort of the Last Prophet.
To strive so that all of mankind and Jinn can prepare for the day of Judgement with faith and good deeds.
We should all be praying for the guidance of all the nonMuslims all over the world on a daily basis.
This is the foremost responsibility for all Muslims since he was the Seal of the Prophets but his message was for all of mankind and Jinn till the last day.
It is now our job to carry on the work of Rasullulah (saw) in the closest way to SUNNAH.

Yes, you can.
As human beings, and as Muslims, when we experience happiness and joy in our lives, it is natural for us to express enthusiasm in sharing it with others that we care about. This is a result of our sincere love and compassion for one another.
Personally, I do not think that there is anything wrong with making du'aa for non - muslims, as long as your intentions in doing so are sincere and unselfish. That is, wanting what is beneficial for him, which is his submittance of will to Allah (subhaan wa'atalaah), enjoining with all that is righteous, and forbidding all that Allah (subhaan wa'atalaah) has made unlawful for us - so that he can attain success in the hereafter inshaAllah.
Remember that there is no compulsion in religion. It is not Muslims that make people convert, it is only through Allah's will that one's heart is open to the truth, that takes them out of darkness, into the light of Islam. But, this does not mean that you should not be a source of support, education and understanding for him, when he needs it - because this is very important.
I reverted to Islam just before Ramadan commenced last year. I started looking into Islam after I met my now husband, who was also the first muslim that I ever formed a friendship with. At that time, I did not even consider changing my religion - I was comfortable where I was.
Although I was oblivious to it at the time, he used to constantly make du'aa for me so that I would open my heart to Islam, and open my eyes to the truth. When I heard about Islam, the more it found a place in my heart. SubhaanAllah when I look back on my life, it is like I am looking back on a life that was not mine. I almost do not recognise myself without Islam. That is a big thing for me to point out, even today, considering the way in which I use to live my life, I was honestly a person that was least likely to become a muslim.
Alhamdulile that Allah (subhaan wa'atalaah) willed a different path for me, and that He has allowed me to be His grateful servant. Allah is Most Merciful.
May Allah guide you on the straight path.
Allah knows best. Ameen.

Islam dictates that the children follow the religion of the father.
You would either have to convert him, change beliefs yourself, or go modern and say "you believe what you believe, I'll believe what I believe, and we still love each other"
