1st digit is 1 = American made 2 Canada 3 Mexico exc.
2nd Manufacture B Chrysler corp G general motors F ford exc.
3rd division 7 = dodge
4th-7th body stile and trim Laval
8th engine
9th I don't remember
10th model year I think its 2001
11th I don't remember
12th-18th the number it rolled off of the assembly line.

The vin will not give the colors of the car. If you have lost the data plate the only other way to "look up" the body color is to have the build sheet. You might be able to find this under the back seat in the springs but it's long shot. They're usually destroyed. Other than that take a picture of what's left of the paint in an area that isn't exposed to sun and ask around.
