---Nineteenth-century British theologian John Nelson Darby's dispensational teaching has been very popular with Evangelical Christians for over a century; however, the John who wrote Revelations probably meant that Jesus Christ was returning some time in his immediate future.
---Mid-nineteenth-century, American evangelist William Miller predicted that Christ would return between March 21, 1843, and March 21, 1844. When Jesus didn't show, Miller revised his predictions and set the date for October 22, 1844, at which time his followers experienced the cognitive dissonance known as the "Great Disappointment". Surviving members of the Millerite movement are known today as Seventh-Day Adventists.
---Jehovah's Witnesses started when Seventh-Day Adventist preacher Jonas Wendell first concluded that Jesus would return in 1868 and then in 1873 and 1874 respectively.
---David Koresh's Branch Davidians were also a splinter group of the Seventh-Day Adventist movement. Koresh billed himself as a reincarnated Jesus Christ. A few surviving members of the group still exist in Central Texas.
---In 1999, Baptist Fundamentalist preacher Jerry Farwell predicted on CNN that the Antichrist would arrive within the decade.
---Christian monks in France in AD 1000 predicted the immediate return of Christ. Indeed, sects predicting the return of Jesus Christ have intensified around the two 1000- year anniversaries of His birth. Additionally,
---In 1997, the Bible Code predicted that a meteor, asteroid, or comet would collide with Earth.
---Irish monk, St. Malachy, who died in 1148, predicted that the Roman Catholic Church has one more pope to go after the current pontiff.
Eventually, odds are somebody will be right. Of course, the world ends for everyone at the time of each individual death. As several posters have mentioned, the Bible cautions that no one will know the time, nor the date.

Dear crimmson,
No. Not if you believe the Bible. God gives a wonderful calendar in the Bible. We know from this calendar that the world was created in 11, 013 BC. The flood of Noad occurred 4990 BC. We know that Abraham arrives in the promised land in 2092 BC. Jacob and his family commanded to leave the promised land and go down to Egypt in 1877 BC. That Israel left Egypt because of God's judgments in 1447 BC. Israel enters Canaan in 1407 BC. Israel becomes a monarchy in 1047 BC. David becomes king of Israel in 1007 BC. Israel is divided ino 2 kingdoms in 931 BC. The 10 tribes of Israel are destroyed by Assyria in 709 BC. The 2 tribes of Judah and Benjamin (southern kingdom) were destroyed in 587 BC by Babylon. The last writing of the Old Testament was penned in 391 BC. Jesus was born in 7 BC. Jesus was announced as Lamb of God in 29 AD. Jesus was crucified in 33 AD.
In 2 Peter 3 God discusses the flood of Naoh's day and then transitions to the end of the world being destroyed by fire. In verse 8 we read, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." Remember that God gave Noah 7 days to get into the ark before the flood waters were to come. Multiplying 7 X 1000=7000 because 1 day=1000 years. If we add 7000 to 4990 BC, we arrive at 2011 AD. This is a highly probable date for the returns of Jesus because all this info comes from the Bible-what God says.
For further info Google my sources. You can read the book over the internet-it is free.

Old Jack and the lovely airhead "Rexella" are wrong.
I looked at Jesus' appointment book and he will be celebrating his 2008th birthday with the Family ... So he's busy that day. He said to me that he'd be coming ... but he didn't know when. He also said, "Chrissakes, is that Jack Van Imp still spouting all that crap?"

The Van Impes were predicting doom and devistation at the 12/31/99 - 01/01/00. There were selling doom and gloom.
Please don't pay them any mind. They are getting rich by peddling fear, fire, and brimstone to believers. Every one of the Van Impes' prophecies have failed.
Break free from the fear and live life fully.

WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE WORLD WILL END AND JESUS COMES BACK, BUT I CAN TELL YOU THIS...IT WONT BE THE YEAR 2012. I HONESTLY BELIEVE IT WILL BE BY THE END OF THIS YEAR. THE THINGS GOING ON RIGHT NOW IT SAYS SPECIFICLY IN THE BIBLE THAT THESE ARE THE LAST DAYS. ONCE THE GOVERNMENT SAYS THERE IS NO MORE RELIGION AND NO MORE PREACHING, ITS GONNA BE OVER. THE GOVERNMENT IS ALREADY TRYING TO REMOVE THE "IN GOD WE TRUST" SENTENCE FROM MONEY BY THE END OF THIS YEAR. AND ALSO THEY FORBID A STUDENT AT A COLLEGE FOR SAYING "THANK GOD FOR ME MAKING IT TO WHERE I AM NOW" AT HER GRADUATING SPEACH LAST WEEK. THESE ARE ALL SIGNS THAT WE ARE LIVING IN THE LAST DAYS.
