When a Christian posts a question, many of the first "atheist and non believer" responders are cruel, rude, closed minded and intolerant.

I don't want to hear any more about you saying that Christians are closed minded and intolerant when YOU are the worst.

After reading some answers & questions today I feel very assured that I can, in all honesty, call MANY of you atheists and non believers HYPOCRITES. Practice what you preach.

Kaliko my sister, I understand your hurt, and I feel your pain. You are justified in feeling this.
However, on both sides of the spectrum there is guilt of hypocricy.....The athiest/nonbelievers as well as the Christians. They are at odds and trying to prove that each has more right to believe than the other. It is a futile effort, as neither is correct. By condemning the other they become what they say they do not want. Thereby producing the hypocricy in life.
Unfortunately, dwelling on the negative only spreads more negativity. Remember that once you sink to their level, you have given them the power which they sought to begin with. You are much better than that. Tolerance has to come from even those who have been rebuked, even moreso than when you are not. So, please remember this as it will be helpful to you in the future.
Tolerance requires being considerate of those even when we do not agree with their belief system, even when they spew hateful words. It is the words of Jesus which states that we are to love all unconditionally. They may use biting words and sting you, but you must remember that if you take it personally you become the person of weakness. You give them more power than that of Jesus if you allow their words to penetrate your heart. Fight for your convictions by being the most humble, the most agreeable, the most tolerable, this will find your path of life is assured to have the strength of God fighting with you by your side.
Become the change that you wish to see in this world my sister, when you see intolerance...give more tolerance. This will balance out the other injustice and your karmic rewards will be greater.
Blessings

I'm not closed minded. I've STUDIED Christianity. I was one for over 20 years. And I've discovered that the bible is mainly a book of fairy tales mixed in with a few small facts (such as existence of certain historical figures, wars fought, etc.)

Have you studied anything other than Christianity? Or have you ever questioned your religion? Probably not, most Christians don't. Atheists and agnostics(which is what I am) have done more research than Christians and have explored other options. Christians don't look at other options.

Honestly, I don't care what someone believes but I get frustrated because Christians don't listen to reason. I don't believe I'm rude when answering a Christian, I get frustrated that they don't listen to common sense.

Christians (in general) do NOT practice what they preach. I'm not being unfair by saying that. Like I said, I used to be a Christian and my ENTIRE family is religious. I have seen it firsthand. To hear my uncle tell me my Jewish friends are going to hell was more than enough to get me to finally leave the religion once and for all.

Well anyone can be closed minded. I'm closed minded about certain things, such that I will never convert to Islam, Jainism, or Hinduism.

But that does not make me intolerant. I am perfectly capable of getting along just fine with adherents of those aforementioned systems, just as they are with me.

Tolerance does not mean agreement. It simply means tolerance. There is a difference.

If you are going to throw insults around, too, then how are you any better than those you are complaining about?

If you don't tell us what questions you read these responses to, then how do you expect anyone you are accusing to defend their position.

If you believe you can call many of us "athiest and nonbelievers HYPOCRITES," then what should we call you? You certainly are not practicing anything you've been preaching.

There may be a speck in my eye, and I am surprised you can see it with that log hanging out of your eye.

Now when did I ever say I as tolerant of religion?

I'm tolerant up to a point, as long as the religion isn't being shoved down my throat.

I agree with you. It's like I said before they always come in here and gripe about Christians getting so defensive but if they would ask their questions or make their comments in a different manner and not be so sarcastic and "hateful" for lack of a better word they may get different answers

I posted a question about some lyrics this morning and the first response I got was something like. . ."it's a song you listen to while you "f" your dog". . .go figure.

And, if you ask a question seriously about a scripture there is always the answers that say, "The Bible is fake, God is not real". . .well, that's not what I was asking you know, lol.

It swings both way here. . .sad really.

I have no pudding and yes I am tolerant, unless someone's causing harm/suffering (like hate, etc.), which NOBODY should tolerate. Blanket statements are truly illogical and don't become you.

Kaliko....get ready because one day they will come for us. Maybe not for a few years, but the day will come when it will be illegal to be a Christian. It is rather ironic, isn't it, to see all the hate and intolerance coming in our direction. No matter what is said in here about being "free" of religion, mankind was created for fellowship with God. Deep down, whether we like it or not, we are always looking for that missing part of ourselves that can ONLY be found in our Creator.

Yet another rant from Kaliko. You have a little freak out about every month or so, am I right?

Coincidence?

I think not.

Go eat some Haagen Daaz or something.
