This may vary by utility, but I know of at least one major US utility who requires the center of the self-contained meter sockets to be between 30" and 60" high.
Transformer rated meter sockets are between 54" and 66".
Other dimensional requirements involve 36" of working space in front of the meter, separation from a gas meter, clearance from swinging doors, etc.
I recommend that you contact your electric utility to verify their requirements before you install the equipment.

Most utility power companies publish "electrical service standards" which are readily available and contain this type of information. Florida Power and Light requires the center of the meter to be not less than 5' and not greater than 6' above grade or finished floor.
