Drop and give me 20!

That is the standard Drill Sargent or Drill Instructor solution for all problems.

Drinking water is a great thing to do both for health and to loose weight but actual physical exercise is the key to use in addition to your calorie intake.

Here is why: To lose weight you must burn more calories than you take in. Burning those calories and firming up your body is best done with exercise: walking, swimming, bike riding and the many other forms of exercise including working physically demanding jobs.

One way to get the exercise to remove the flab and get firm is to walk, starting with 15 minutes a day regardless of the speed or distance covered, then after a week increase it to 30 minutes a day and stay with it. You will quickly look forward to your walks and feel great at the end of each one.

A bike ride or swim daily using the same principal, of time rather than speed or distance will do the same.

You are young, and only need to get out and find the activity your body needs, so try them and you will be very surprised and happy to find you enjoy the activity.

Oh, if you need help getting started, you might join the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard.

The services have a skilled teacher to help you get into top condition and pay you to do it.

yes it will and put you in the hospital!!! Stopping eating is NOT a good plan. Eating less calories than you burn in a day is the idea. Your body will go into starvation mode, conserving EVERYTHING, if you don't give it food. The key is too eat small meals 6 times a day. I know it sounds silly, eat mroe often, but the key is, take breakfast and only eat half of it. Eat theother half at 9:30 to 10 am. Eat luch, but only half of it, eat the other half mid afternoon. Same thing with dinner, half at dinner time, half later on. Add in some excercise, you can always walk during lunch, and the weight will come off. Start slow and think slow but steady progress. You didn't get like this overnight, it won't come off overnight!

the only way to lose body fat on any area is overall weight (fat) loss - you cant spot reduce it
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I wouldn't advise only drinking water! Walking is a "step in the right direction" but a controlled diet along with stomach crunches will have your tummy tightened and love handles gone in short order. For your age and height your weight is just about right - you only need to tone your body. .

Water and walking briskly or running is the best thing to burn fat around the mid areas. Stay away from sodas and limit your alcohol.
Good luck.
