I've been asked to sing a solo performance in church. I'm nervous, I've only ever sung in the Christmas Program. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas, or suggestions for songs that they love to hear a soprano sing? I really want to be inspirational, not boring. Song choice is not my strength. . . I usually just get assigned a song! Please help!

This is not a Catholic church, it's Congragational/non-denominational so traditional hymns and contemporary are both appropriate.

"O Holy Night" is the classic. Seriously, there are few Christmas carols that even come close to approaching that one, and most of the other good ones sound just as good when not sung solo. "O Holy Night" *has* to be a solo, and it's a good thing you're a sorprano!
My other favorite, "Carol of the Bells," doesn't really work for singing.
Too bad it's not for St. Patrick's Day so I can't recommend "Danny Boy."

"Go Light Your World" by Kathy Trocolli--Beautiful song!
Or "The Great Divide" by Point of Grace. My daughter sang this at church, and she is a soprano. Also a beautiful song. For something a little more traditional, how about "Holy Ground" (we are standing, on holy ground).

How conservative is your church? Does it have to be a traditional hymn? If not then try "I Burn" by The Toadies.

i'm uncertain in case you think of this might certainly artwork for Easter, yet I incredibly love the hymn "i visit glory in my redeemer". it incredibly is taken under consideration one of those great hymn! additionally i in my opinion like "come ye sinners unfavourable and needy". Idk in case you would be wanting to apply them for this, yet examine them out besides in case you haven't any longer heard them till now(:
