Why do peaceful protests always end up in violence?

Because generally protesters are so filled with anger. Whenever people are "for" a cause, it is usually a peaceful gathering. For example, people who want to cure cancer rally and have a walk or a race.

Protesters, on the other hand, are "anti" something. Their anger builds until it turns into an explosive situation. Also, these groups tend to attract a lunatic fringe who only add to the ugliness of the environment.

Well they don't. You hear about the ones that do because it's news. A Peaceful protest usually isn't news. But I can think of a dozen or mores protests and demonstrations in my city in the past year that did not end in any arrests or violence. Some of Issues were the war in Iraq, immigration, abortion, gay rights, homelessness, and police abuse. The news covered all of them, but none made the front page.

I would think mob mentality. All it takes is one nutjob to squirm his way into a mass of peaceful protesters and rile everyone up. The instigator could throw one bottle causing a police reaction which will get others mad, and it just snowballs.
Fortunately, the police are monitering these things better, and if they are suppressing a riot they already know who the ringleaders are and thusly arrest them first. Take them out and hopefully diffuse the situation.

Because all protestors are loosers, uneducated about the cause (ask anybody now about the Armenian and Turkey protest and you will see, or any illegal alien during the "immigration" protest). Ask any PETA member, they start off so call "peaceful", but wait till news cameras start to show up, they get RABID.

The police is only reacting to the violence started by the protestors. Then the protestors start to BMW (b itching and moaning and whining) when they get hit.

Have you noticed all the protestors in America who protest against what ever cause that affects the world would never go to other country to protest because they know they will be killed or hurt more in other country. Have any human right organization go protest in Iraq when Soddom was still alive? Have any of them go protest in any country in continent of Africa? They are ignorant about how good they have it in USA. God bless America.

Often the protests start out peacefully but due to all the other interference, non supporters there, and the police need to assert themselves on behalf of the "people as a whole" this tend to cause @ shift.

because who ever it is the peaceful protestors are protesting against is violent. as we can see peaceful protesting never works. it never matters. the only time in history things ever change is when people take up fire arms and rebel. that is the only way. even in india with ghandi the untold story. their whole country got tuorn apart. if you look at india before india used to be modern day pakistan. bangladesh, and india in one. with all the fighting it had to be seperated because the british went there occupied, colonised, and broke out civil war between the different religious sects. the corrupt peope in power never want to leave their posistions. even right here in the united states of america. bush administration shold be trialed for war crimes after what they have done. but yet we as the american public are more interested in paris hilton for driving drunk and people want to see her hung. until this nation hits rock bottom and the people in it decide to make a change this is what we will have to keep enduring daily life like. so like i said previously peace never works. there always has to be some sort of war/revolution in order to change. peaceful people will always get murdered.

I think most "protestors" are looking for it to turn to violence. They know deep down that protesting is pointless and after the drugs wear off, they get all ornery. At least when they cause a fight they will get news coverage!

I have been to many protests recently on the anti-illegal immigration side. We have never turned violent. We see many illegals driving by flipping us off, but that won't make me pull my gun out and start blasting them. I have more self control then that geeze!

** Most anti-immigration rallies DON'T make the news, Why? Because the TV and newspaper go by the old saying, "if it bleeds it leads".
