mistake number one was eating just before going to bed. Big no no. It isn't so much what you eat as much as how much and when. Little bro should eat smaller amounts, he should remain sitting upright for a minimum of thirty minutes after eating anything, and never never eat or drink anything for at least thirty minutes before laying down.

well if your brother had a full dinner and then ate some fruit on top of that...This could be the reason for his indigestion. (which is the inability to digest)
When you study nutrition and food combining, you learn not to combine fruit with other foods. Fruit should be eaten alone on an empty stomach, because it will cause gas and bloating and will upset the digestive process of the other foods. Fruit will actually turn to acid when combined with other foods and will spoil in the stomach.
If you want to eat fruit for dessert you should wait two hours after your last meal to avoid any problems as well wait about an hour before lying down to bed...
You can also try a natural plant enzyme suplement. Enzymes supplements are noted for helping to digest foods. When we eat over processed and foods that are "cooked to death" we are not recieving the vital enzymes that are needed to digest them. Always try to eat your veggies slightly steemed or raw to have the least problems with digestion.

It depends on the person...anything can really cause heartburn. He should do to the doctor to make sure it's not more than just heartburn.

Different foods can cause heartburn for different people. Pastry is a prime culprit, and spicy food too.

Tell your brother not to eat any adicic foods, like for example: strawberries, oranges, tomato's. I know that lots of fruit has acid in them. try to also avoid spicy foods too. i understand that what i'm saying cuts out alot of the food chart. oh and maybe you should try peptobimold, its in a clear bottle. but the liquid is pink. but if you are doubt full just talk to a pharmacist or the family doctor.

Do not eat before going to bed. Don't eat food which contains acids or grease.

Acidic foods (like tomatos) should be avoided. And you should drink more water and avoid greasy foods. If you want some fries, bake them!
