YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depression runs in my family. I was diagnosed while in college. I have attempted, others in my family have also.

For me, it has taken time, counseling, medication, inpatient psychiatric care, great network of doctors, counselor and friends.

My depression is just part of me. I still have some very dark days. It is very difficult to feel harming myself isn't the only way out. The difference is, I now have the knowledge to make it through them.

I see my psychiatrist monthly, talk with my counselor weekly, know I can call safe people 24/7/365 and take my meds

I can't imagine what you have experienced. Take care of yourself!!!

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.

Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

Depression Free Method?

Try to convince your brother that there is no reason to suffer with this in this modern world. Since it involves several family members it may not be depression. Could be bi-polar or some other possibility. All can be controlled with medication.

Dealing with death of a loved one also can cause feelings of dis-pare. Many mental health care clinics have booklets and out patient counseling. If he doesn't want to help himself, then your family may have to intervene. Even if you have to trick him into going. I would not wait very long for any of you to get help. I think that your family needs to go to grief counseling at the very least. Medication can maintain one to enjoy a normal like. I have been on medication for depression/anxiety for several years. I can finally see JOY in my life again.

You have to be the voice of reason and get your brother help. It is obvious in your family that suicides are no coincidence. Implore him to get help and if he does not, force him. Tell him to do it for you and he has so much to live for. It may seem bad and depressing now, but medication and a positive outlook can help him in the long run.

It is absolutely treatable! I should know. It may take a while and a couple different drugs and therapies and therapists but you can live a normal, enjoyable life. Some people will deal with it pnce and never again, others will deal with it multiple times, but regardless there is help.

The big problem with mental illness is it makes you not want to get help.

Look into having the state involuntarily commit him for being a danger to himself. It may get him started.

with your family history, I would definitely look into having your brother committed, involuntarily if necessary. Depression does run in families, and there is good documentation that suicides do as well.

It cannot be cured, but it certainly can be treated. Depression is due to a chemical imbalance in the brain which can be rectified with medication.

If not outright cured, depression can be controlled and managed with a combination of drugs and therapy.
