Every time I open my mouth wide to chew big or talk sometimes, my jaw kind of locks and then makes a click sound before it shuts. Is this a serious problem waiting to happen ?

Jong jong, thanks for your concern, but this has been happening for like years now. I think in Lock-Jaw (tetanus) the jaw closes shut. Mine kind of locks open...

Not necessarily. But you might have mild TMJ or be developing it. You can see a specialist and be fitted with a comfortable device to wear at night which will help with this. My sister had TMJ and wore the insert for a while and it helped her.

Do you keep your jaw rigid sometimes when you sleep or maybe b/c of anxiety or nerves? This might be contributing.

beware bro, if you have accidentally cut yourself with a rusty thing like a rusty nail for an example. Be aware that you might get a " TETANUS" . This is no joke and a LOCK JAW is one symptons. If this happens to you then go see a doctor ASAP. If you didnt have any injuries or cuts that are caused by rusty objects then whew............ there is nothing too worry about. Just a bit concerned u know cause lots of people have died because of small cuts caused by rusty objects that they didnt give an attention.

Most likely TMJ...the Temporo Mandibular Joint...jaw joint...has too much play...talk to your doctor if its a problem or causes severe headaches

ew.. that happens to me too!
if i move my jaw to the side it does it.
i don't think it's something bad though..
