As someone that has never driven in NYC, should I drive straight to my hotel in mid-town Manhattan and park or should we park somewhere in Jersey and take the train in? I drive in LA traffic just fine, does that compare to NY? We obviously will rely on public transportation once we arrive, but getting there is my main concern.

If you're staying in the city, use the hotel's parking facility. Otherwise, do a park and ride. You're gonna spend a small fortune in parking fees! You didn't say where you're coming from, but you can get Metro-North or NJ Transit from Orange, Rockland, Westchester, or Dutchess counties in NY, and PATH from northern NJ.

Where LA has large volume and you get nowhere fast. NYC has crazy people - especially those who drive cabs. If you can't read minds to anticipate what other people are going to do before they do it, don't drive into the city. NYC has probably the best public transpo in the country - take advantage of it.

I many times park on the Croton-Harmon station in Westchester. it incredibly is $10/day and there are 2 trains according to hour to Grand critical Terminal. Your inn is seven short blocks from GCT, an uncomplicated walk or, if the climate is terrible, a 5 minute cab experience. That section is extremely secure, even at night. funds saving tip: if there are 5 or extra of you, get a 10-holiday prepare fee ticket, so which you utilize 5 of the journeys on the way in and the different 5 on the some time past.besides the fact that tickets you get, purchase them until now you get on the prepare, through fact the on-prepare fee is plenty bigger. counting on the place you're coming from and going to, New Haven is likewise a smart place to park and experience, in spite of the reality that it incredibly is farther from NYC.

Manhattan gets very congested!!!!!! I would suggest parking outside of Manhattan and use mass transit. If you want you can still drive in to the city and just park inside of a garage, but be careful because the prices they charge to park are ridiculous.

I would personally suggest parking in jersey and utilize public transportation. I personally do not live in nyc but commute ther often. Although I can drive in NYC I do not prefer it and hate it every time. I am an aggressive driver but i swear Nyers are the most impatient, rude, and nasty drivers ever. They cut you off, beep at you if, God forbid, you are lost, ride your tail, just a mess.

park in Jersery, and take the subway in , I have driven in and taken the subway, driveing in is no good.
parking in the city is also very expensive.
Less hassle to just park in Jersery and take the train.
