I am not afraid to get my hands dirty but I don't have a clue where to begin. The speakers are top mounted and there is a carpeted panel covering over them. In order to change them I have to remove this. I hear people say take out the back seat but where the heck does I start. For those unfamiliar with the 97 Plymouth breeze it is basically the same thing as a 97 dodge stratus. If I do get them out can I remount them underneath so I can avoid this if I ever need to change them again?

Start at the very bottom seat cushion; you should be able to push backwards on the front of the seat and unhook it on each side to remove it. With the seat bottom out of the way, you can see the large bolts holding in the bottom part of the seat back; you might need a large torx bit to remove these. After the bolts are removed you need to lift straight up on the seat back to unhook the top and remove it. Then you can get to the clips that hold down the rear deck cover.

You can bottom-mount the new speakers provided they're equipped with a front gasket to keep the cone clear of the deck metal. Most are, some aren't.
