My friend had her wisdom teeth pulled, and she said the dentist told her she can eat cold pasta. Actually he told her to call her best friend and have her bring her some cold pasta. So she called me and told me what he said. I was messing around with her and telling her if she called her best friend yet and she said yeah I'm talking to her now. I want to take her some on my lunch break, but don't know what kind to get.

Ouch for your friend! It depends on what the deli has. I don't think macaroni salad would be that bad. But if they have spaghetti salad, don't buy that. Or not the orzo salad either. Look at the salads and see how big the chunks are. If they have teeny chunks, avoid those. They could get up in the sockets and cause infection.

Ooh, a cold ravioli or tortellini salad could be good!

Madmio - trust me, it's easy to make a simple tomato sauce. That jar stuff will ruin your palate and run more salt (and even sugar) though your body than you realize. 1 can crushed (preferably Roma) tomatoes 2 table spoons of olive oil 1 piece of garlic - sliced 2 table spoons of diced carrot 3 table spoons diced yellow or white onion 1 tiny dried pepper or a dash of cayenne - optional. Put the onion and carrot and the pepper in a sauce pan with the oil and heat... watch that the onion doesn't burn - pour yourself a glass of red wine. As the onion just starts to yellow add the garlic, stir a few times - count to 20 and add a bit of wine from your glass, stir some more.... Add the tomato, rinse the can of tomato out with a bit more of your wine and pour into the pan. Heat (keep flame low / medium) uncovered for about 10 minutes. At this point your water should be boiling and you can drop the pasta in. Grate the cheese, set the table. The pasta should be about ready, check to see that it is cooked to your liking. Done? Serve, pour a little olive oil on the pasta and then the sauce that you've slaved over. Pour another glass of wine (this time all of it is yours) and enjoy your meal.

Today you can find prepared pasta at the store, in spaghetti, tortellini, penne, and many more. Almost all of them. The cold pastas would most likely be pasta salads.
