It's been a year and a half since I've been working at this job. My review is long do. I keep asking my manager what's going on. I finally told him just to let me know if I'll even get a raise. I said I wanted to know now so I know if I should look for another job. He said they will give me a raise when they hire an HR person. Should I tell him I've decided not to wait and look for another job?

I would not wait I would look for another job . dont say anything to him just go look for one and when you find one give him 2 weeks notice and then report to your other job and if he asks why you did this then be honest with him and tell him . good luck and happy job hunting.

No one should have to wait that long for a review, please remember your worth it if they kept you that long, it's nice, they can keep your money in there pocket. Update your resume and start passing it around, whatever your occupation it's always good to go back to school to increase your knowledge, that is wonderful material to use if you EVEN have to mention your raise to your superior.

keep the pressure on. if your manager is of no help, go above his/her head and speak with his/her manager. or warn your manager if he won't give you the answer you're looking for, then you'll go to his manager. that should pressure him to get the ball rolling.
