He could definitely make it to the top. I doubt he can dominate the division but can definitely win a title. I have seen many of his fights via youtube and I believe he already belongs in or near the top ten after only 12 pro fights. He has a great left hook and an aggressive style. He is enjoyable to watch, kind of reminds me of Frazier. And he also has great technique, speed, and timing.

He had a great amateur record, was a gold medalist, and has great management, which will all ensure his success in the pros. He has beaten average competition and his first real test comes against Monte Barrett (who has fought for two world titles although one was for the interim belt) at the end of the month.

You can count on Povetkin winning every fight (including Barrett) until he gets to a title shot because all his opponents will be hand picked by his powerful managers.

I have no doubt he will get a title shot within 2 years because of management and amateur pedigree alone, but whether he is the future of the division? He has a chance.
