Yes all dogs need exercise but the best dog for your situation would have to be an English Bully as they are normally not really active just a good walk will do them well.They are also easily kept and smart.They love to be couch potatoes!Oh and by they way the slobber that people think the bullies have is a bunch of hype as they really do not slobber that much.Not to mention how cute and wrinkled they are.They are one of the most loyal and loving companions you can have...Here is a link with some cute pics of bullies so good luck in finding what you are looking for!

Mongrel. The shelter is full of them. and they come spayed/neutered, shots etc.
OH yes, there's something to be said about hybrid vigor - that is mongrel dogs often live longer, healthier, more active lives than their pedigreed blue blood brethren.
Don't get a puppy - they require too much attention. Get an adult - one that is potty-trained, and has outgrown the chewy stage. Older dogs can usually do well on their own too.

well a med. dog is still a little to big i would go with small like a wienner dog or something but the best would be a spaniel

I have Westies, and I highly rec commend them. They may be on the small side of medium, approx 20 pounds. They do not shed, and are very intelligent.

English Bulldog...They are amazing! Look into this type of breed. They are very entertaining and love to cuddle. You can't resist the wrinkles.
