What eye has not seen, what ear has not heard, God has revealed these things to us by His Spirit...
Because you need a lot of faith for that. If you've got a missing leg, say, if you try to attain to faith, your natural mind is just going to say 'its not possible', in fact 99.9% of people won't even consider the possibility.
I've read F.F.Bosworth's "Christ the Healer" recently. He lists some testimonies at the end - some late stage cancers, e.g. with one persons' face half eaten out, not even able to eat but by sipping, and then having all the skin and parts recreated overnight after healing. You will find testimonies of that sort if you investigate. I have heard of missing eyes being created, but I haven't heard of limbs being recreated - but theoretically it is possible according to the Word, but very great faith required.
----------------
Note that on-earth blessings in Christ come through faith. If you think its impossible, that is unbelief, and you can't receive (Mark 11:24). That's why impossible-seeming things like healing of amputees are going to be much harder than lesser conditions (but may have occured somewhere). You have to develop your faith. It would be easy with Christ physically before you, having seen him just heal loads of people..

Proving god doesn't exist is one of the easiest things to prove. God's existence would be kind of noticeable, and I don't get the God's lurking in the shadows, as hidden as possible, and allowing all tragedy theory. It's an insult to think God will protect you and not everyone that has already been killed or given some debilitating disease, when you do that you are placing blame on every victim of every rape, every attack, every genocide, etc. they must have lost some favor with god and must have somehow deserved it? So if someone comes and rapes you you'll think it must be some sort of dogmatic Karma?
Here's something positive for the Christians- God wasn't responsible for the Holocaust, God didn't allow the Holocaust to take place. That's the good news.

As one of the 56 million Americans with disabilities, and a nonbeliever from childhood (I am now 71), I've been dipping into the site you recommend ever since it was mentioned by Richard Dawkins in "The God Delusion." It is the best site on the Web re 'belief,' and I urge religious folk to look it over with, dare I say it, an open mind.

Aye, captain! Tis a good ole question that always needs askin, to be sure. Yet never a satisfactory answer nor a miraculous limb regrowth is ever found. It would be nice if it helped to uncloud a few minds a bit, but I doubt it.

To be born a human is a Heavenly Gift, cos your soul could have been placed in any other form of living things.
So, the human body is an highly special due to it's given instincts, intelligence and workings.
If you loose a part of the body due to your own negligence in caring for it properly till you achieve 'realization', 'salvation', whatever it's called, you don't a natural replacement.
Bottom line: Pay the price for being careless/negligent in caring for the wonderful body that "I" have given you. (Guess that's what He would say).. hehe

Amputees will be healed at the second coming of Christ.
1 Cor. 15:51-53 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

God can't heal anyone because she doesn't exist, and it's hard to fake growing a new arm at one of those "faith healing" rallies. (It's probably been done, but it's harder than faking getting over deafness or something.)
FascFiter, have you been reading Hitchhiker? Your answer here is strikingly similar to the Babel Fish passage.

We'll never have all the answers we ask and never understand everything. The person who loses a limb but doesn't lose their faith, doesn't need the limb back to keep their faith, after all, they will get a whole new body when they die and they know that.

My guess is because there is no God to help anyone. It is delusional to think that God answers prayers. People can develop positive and confident attitudes, but that does not spring from an external, supernatural power. It simply arises from our thought processes.

Because if a Faith Healer could restore amputated limbs, that would PROVE that God exists. God need FAITH, and proof eliminates the necessity of faith. Does that make sense? Of course it doesn't!
