It's so annoying, because if I want to buy something productive, my mom will say no and threaten to punish me if I do. Then later she'll come and take my money and use it to buy something else.
We (meaning us kids) NEVER get to buy anything that we want! (cell phones, computers, laptops, ipods, educational things, etc.)

If you've earned the money or have received it as gifts (for birthday, Christmas, whatever) than your parents really don't have the right to take the money, although they can control what you purchase. My advice would be to find a trusted relative (aunt, uncle, best friend's mom) and ask them to help you open a savings account and put all your money in there and then your parents can't trust it. When you get a little older you can then do with it what you want or need (car, insurance, college, apartment). Good luck and God Bless.

Are you talking about allowance or money you have earned? I suspect you are talking about allowance. Because if you have earned the money, you would not be asking such a stupid question.
But if you have earned the money, it's yours and your parents cant tell you how to spend it, unless they feel that as parents you should not have what you are trying to buy. They have THAT right. But they do not have the right to confiscate your money.
As for cell phones, ipods, etc, those items also include monthly fees. Buying them means your parents have to pay those fees. Because you wont. So, if you are OK with buying a cell phone without service, or with service you have to pay for, go for it.
You kids think you have some kind of entitlement to force your parents into bankrupcty so you can text message. You may have to come to the realization that your parents cant afford it, or are too intelligent to give in to the pressure that advertising can bring. If I were a teacher and I caught kids text messaging in my class, I'd suspend them. This is why so many of you cant formulate a sentence.

No its not right for your mother to be taking your money.
For her to take your money and buy things for other things is wrong and stealing. Now if she asks to borrow and pays you back thats a different story. Try talking to dad about it if not whoever gives you money for a gift (let say grandparents), prior to an event ask them what you would like and if they can buy it tell them you prefer if they buy you the gift then give you money. If they ask tell them the reason why, as you never get to enjoy the money because mom takes and never gives back. Other alternative have a relative open an account for you.

It depends. If your earning your own money then its yours to spend however you like and your mom has NO RIGHT whatsoever to take it from you. If she has given you the money for good behaviour, then you still have a right to spend it on what you want. But if she has given you the money for something shes told you she wants you to have then its only fair to do that.
But otherwise she's being selfish! Spend your money on the things you want!

It's really not your money. Do you work, do you pay bills. They own you till your 18. But look on the bright side, they are doing it for your own good. You might not see it now, but as you grow older you will realize what she has done was probably right.
