You have to really be serious about it. Get your mind set on it. Dig out those old blue jeans that don't fit you anymore, but you still hold on to them... and look at them everytime you want a big plate of deep fried foods. Food is an addiction just like everything else. Also... exercise! Find something that you enjoy to do, so it doesn't seem like work. Tennis? A water aerobics class? Just remember that like all good things, it will take time. But it will be so worth it when you get to buy a whole new wardrobe! Start saving for it now! You need to respect yourself and truly believe that you deserve this. (A little flowery, I know... but hey, I think it is the only diet plan that works!) You may even want to enroll in a health class at your local community college. Most classes are even offered online now a days (I took one last semester). Their is so much to learn about food intake, and how to maintain a balanced diet... that may help you also. A successful diet takes effort!

I recently found out that I was a Diabetic. I learned much about how the body processes and uses energy. You have three types of Energy: Protein, Fat, and Carbohydrates.

Well, I am a type 2 Diabetic and I had to cut out sweets. I switched to Diet drinks and stopped snacking between meals. I saw results immediately. If you stick to 60 carbs a meal three times a day, and watch the Fat, you will see some results.

Your body needs carbohydrates to stay alive, so don't cut out carbs completely. I lost at least 10 pounds doing this. Good Luck.

Hi Alexis! Before you go looking for any "diet" per se, you need to decide whether or not you've made up your mind to actually make this change in eating habits a life long part of your life or something temporary. The most important part is "making up your mind to do it!" I just finished losing 50 pounds, BUT, it took work, effort, and determination; anything worth having is worth working for...I chose LA Weight Loss because there are no pre-packaged foods and they require you to attend their counseling services 3 times per week at your convenience. It'll be "easy", so to speak, if you've made up your mind to do it because the determination will be there, if not...good luck in whatever you find!

This works for me. I've lost 30 lbs. in one year. I've hit platoues at times, but I have not gained back a single pound. I only weigh myself weekly.

There is no magic diet.

You have to make this a life style change, in order to lose... and most importantly keep the weight off.

The basics: Exercise more, and eat less.

When you eat meals, eat lean protein with whole grains, and veggies. Drink fat-free milk, or eat fat-free yogurt, with fruit for a snack. Avoid prepackages foods; they are loaded with salt and chemicals.

Drink lots of water, but don't gulp it down, or might get stomach cramps. Sips throughout the day. Carry a bottle or thermos of water with you. (I keep a case of bottled water in my trunk, just in case I forget my thermos on may way out the door). I recommend getting one of those water filters that fits on your tap; it makes the water taste so much better... And it's far cheeper than buying bottled water all of the time.

Start with small changes that seem "doable". For instance, if you usually have a 3 sodas a day, cut it down to two, and then one; instead of trying to eliminate soda, altogether. Soft drinks were a big problem for me, but now I only drink soda once, occasionally twice a week.

Switching to whole grains goes a long way to help, too. Whole grains allow you feel fuller longer, and they help your blood-sugar to stay at a more constant level.

If you're not used to exercising, don't sign up at a gym or take classes. I made that mistake when I was trying to get back into shape. They say they are for all levels, even beginners, but I found that most require a certain level of fitness first.
Start by walking; use a pedometer, and challenge yourself to walking more and more each day.

For good cardio you need to break a sweat for a least 30 minutes every day. If this is too much, too fast, try breaking a sweat for 10 minutes every day, and build from there.

Don't completely eliminate any food group. And don't force yourself to give up foods you really enjoy. The key is moderation, and portion control.

Real change takes time. You will have set backs. Just remember: when you fall down, and you will (we all do), don't beat yourself up. Pick yourself up, and move on.

(Sometimes I will still eat an entire pint of ice cream in one sitting. When this happens I say to myself: Okay that was not good... but I get myself back on track and follow my plan for the rest of the day. I don't skip a meal to compensate, it will only throw-off my body more.)

I hope this helps. Good luck. Feel free to email for support.

just moderate your eating habits and do your cardio regularly 3 to 5 times a week, 45 minutes to an hour each session. Cant understand why it is so hard for people to understand the value of exercising. Eating and exercise work hand in hand to drop your fats.

instead of eating midday snacks, drink water... another thing that could calm your appetite would be eat some nuts... any kind... they are appetite suppressors... you could also switch over to diet drinks when it comes to sodas or juices... grapefruit juice by the way is supposed to help increase your metabolism...

those are just a couple little things that could help... good luck...
