Luckily, showing theists some of the better arguments *does* work, even if the results do not show up right away.
The idea that eventually led me to reject theism was one I came up with while surfing the internet, though I didn't read the argument itself. However, seeing atheists win pretty much every argument up to that point made me more open to critically examining the new argument.
Why? I like being right, and by that point I was starting to suspect that the Christian arguments were flaky.

No, I agree with many atheists on the stance of legislation and education. Even though I'm a Christian, I don't feel that allowing the government to become religiously centered would good for ANYONE. That's just opening up a door that I don't want to see what's on the other side.
You would think that with all the focus on the Middle East, more American Christians would begin to recognize and respect the importance of keeping religion and the government separate.

I do realize it would be wrong for atheist not to comment on R&S. I think a lot of the issues in here, and please keep in mind this is only MY opinion, but I believe a lot of the issues stem not necessarily from what was asked but the manner in which it was asked. And it goes both ways. Christians come in here comdemming and judging people which is NOT what we are supposed to do, and athiest come in here and begin to immediately put down Christians and antagonize them. It's wrong on both ends of the spectrum.

For an atheist to comment on Deism is an oxymoron. How can you comment on worship when you worship nothing. All you have is the here and now, the five senses. You have, by your own definition of nonbelief, disqualified yourself from commenting on things you know nothing about. God has stated that man's wisdom is foolishness to Him and God's wisdom seems as foolishness to the unbeliever. Thus you have the schism established by God himself and never the twain shall meet unless the unbeliever yields his heart to the soft whisperings of the spirit. So unless you are willing to open your heart and mind to things of the spirit, you have no standing before this forum to comment on what you don't believe in.

Do you realize antagonizing Christians on here isn't going to solve anything?? Mocking doesn't solve anything either.
Write your congress or lawmaker. Be active in politics, but R&S?? Give me a break. You just want to be mean.
G'day, mate.

Many atheists know more about christianity and the bible than christians do and are more qualified to be here than most christians.
You show a fine example of the arrogance mentioned in the question
