Why don't older sisters don't like their little sisters?

Question

Ever since I can remember, my big sister has always been bossy and no fun to be around. How come I have to share everything with her and she never has to share anything with me? And I always do it willingly. And when we talk about things, it's only so she can criticize me for something stupid. Yesterday, she criticized me for not being able to tie a perfect knot. Don't they ever have anything pleasant on their minds?
Yes, only when they are talking non stop with their snooty friends on the telephone about things annoy you with all the loud laughing so you can't concentrate on homework or watching TV.

How come she won't talk to me about the things going on with her in her daily life like she does with her friends? I always tell her how I am doing. Sometimes she is okay and sometimes she will criticize me.

I meant to ask why don't older sisters like their little sisters?

I think its because you guys dont have so much i common.I mean,think about it....When you were lets say... 7 and she was 13 or something what did you like???You probably liked playing with barbies or playing dress up while your sister liked talking on the phone with friends talking about boys.
I also think its because older siblings have more power and think they're the boss of you.

I grew up with 2 sisters and had to share a room with both so I know how to answer your problem. This depends of how old you are. If you are 10 or younger, your sister will be this way. I'm now 13 and my sisters have been treating like I am older. But if you are 13 and older, it might be because you have to share a room and ya'll spend to much time together. All I can say is that my sisters and I are very close now that I've gotten more mature and I have my own room for about 5 years.

Well, this is coming from an older sisters point of view, so I hope it helps.
I love my little sister with all of my heart and would never let anything happen to her. BUT...I treated my little sister the same way your older sister is treating you.
She doesn't talk to you about what is going on because, Im only guessing, that there is a large age gap. Little sisters are USUALLY humongous snitches. They DELIGHT in telling on you for every little thing and LOVE to see you get into trouble. Maybe she doesn't tell you things b/c you snitched on her one too many times.

It also seems that you are confronting her with a negative attitude right off the bat, so why would she want to do anything with you if you are referring to her friends as "snotty" and referring to her laughing and having fun as annoying.

well sounds pretty normal to me. Most big sisters don't like to be bothered by little sisters because they think that it makes them look not as cool, or they just don't have the patience for them. I am the oldest of five kids and I didn't get along with my sister very well until we where 18 and 19 years old. A sister is a kind of competition and their are always going to be disagreements but wait till your a little older to take it seriously just be a kid and take the time she gives you right know she will grow up sooner than you think.

I am an older sister and I feel lots of times that my younger sister doesn't like me either. When we were kids we fought constantly. I have two daughters and they swear that they hate each other and can't wait to be apart from one another.

I know though that my sister is always there for me if I really need her to be. I know that even though my kids fight like cats and dogs that they can't sleep without each other. We are family and we love each other unconditionally.

With your family you don't always have to be nice, or even polite. Your sister knows that no matter what you will always love her. I'm sure that you know that about her to. Don't worry this will pass. You will grow up and become friends and there will be no one in the world you trust more than you trust her.

I don't know how old you and your sister are, all I can say is hopefully it won't last forever. It didn't with me and my little sister.

What we don't realize when we're younger is our little sisters tend to look up to us and want to be like us. My sister and I argued a lot when we were younger. And I have to admit I was a little bossy then too. But sometimes it's because our parents put that responsibility on us, to look out for our younger siblings. And I took it very literally, I didn't want to disappoint my parents.

Now my little sister and I get along great, we laugh about all the things that used to piss us off when we were younger. We love each other very much and look to each other for advice.
Talk to your sister, maybe she doesn't realize that you want to be closer to her, I think you do. Good luck.

Welcome to sibling rivalry. Believe it or not, she's jealous that she's not you and wishes that she was, and because she can't manipulates you and hurts you to make her feel like she's in control. When she's a little *****, ignore like she is one and when she's crass do what other sisters do, give it right back. She may pretend it doesn't bother her but deep down it cuts deep. Ok... maybe that not a good idea LOL. Just tell her you love her but you aren't going to stick around if she's going to be like that and leave the room. It will affect her. If you have stuff to do and she's bugging you, go elsewhere, with no audience, she's powerless.

Get a lock for the out portion of your mattress room door. Even a intense up hook that sister won't be able to attain will artwork. placed Moo, nutrients water and muddle container in there each time you go away the homestead. how old are you and your sister? My sister and I used to be closer but as we got older, married and had kids...we havent been very close as we are two totally different people....she's more the snooty yuppie who obsesses about appearances and how much money someone makes and Im more the have fun and the heck with what other people think kinda person.

you didn't say how much of an age gap there was. i have 5 sisters all older than me - they never liked me much either... lol i was little "pest" when we were growing up. But we are all as close now as anyone could be. i have always said that i can count my best friends on one hand... :)

So she may not like you now - but she will definitley love you later : )
