Jehovah's Witnesses are always learning and advancing to maturity. We do not worship or follow Russell, we follow the bible and Jesus example. However, we are thankful that Jehovah used Russell and the other bible students to aid them in finding the truth of the bible. They did not claim to be infallible, like the Pope. They were wrong on some things, which they admitted and showed humility, but were right on so many other very important doctrines. It was a continual learning and cleansing of themselves from man's doctrines and traditions. When you consider how many teachings there were to research and study to see if they were in accord with the bible...of course, it took time to rid themselves of false doctrines and teachings and to rely fully on the bible. They use to celebrate holidays. We of course, have not done that for years, after further study showed them to be pagan.
Every religion was started by a man or group of men. If there were not honest hearted men in search of truth, everyone would still be Catholic.
This is the 21 century, and Jehovah is always moving forward, not backward. So likewise, his people do the same.

this is a subject that people love to jump into, and talk about and argue about, but actually in a way its a good thing, because it makes people aware of Jehovah's Witnesses and and brings attention to God, which is the purpose of our preaching, to let people know his name, which I'm sure most people do now, and what his purpose is for the earth.
Yes the http://www.watchtower.org is the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses, good information is found there.
Basically in a nutshell we believe:
God's Name is Jehovah, He is not a trinity
* Jesus is God's Son
* God created the earth to be a paradise, and still does
* Satan is the angel who rebelled against God and is now confined to the earth, which is why there is so much chaos.
* God's purpose for a paradise earth has not changed, his Kingdom, a government ruled from heaven will replace human governments, and it will restore paradise conditions and will end death and sickness and famine, etc. Restore it to the way it was originially created in the beginning.
There is more of course, but that is the basic elements, God's Kingdom is what will bring true peace and security to the earth, man has had thousands of years to try, and yet we have made some progress in things, worldwide everlasting peace can only be accomplished thru a perfect government ruled by a perfect creator.
I'm sure most everyone knows where a Kingdom Hall is, thats a true place to find out what we believe, also if you want to learn more or ask the witnesses that come to your house.
If you really want to know what a Jehovah's Witness believes, ask a Witness, IN PERSON, that way you are sure to get a good in real life answer.
It would be the same as if someone wanted to know information about you and your family, would I just go ask someone who you didn't know and believe what they said, or just go to a website that someone created about you and belive that? Or would a website created by you and your family be more credible as to who you are and what your information was?
People have always made their own choices as to what they believe, when it comes down to it all of us as humans are not perfect, we as witnesses just try to do what we feel is right, for us and our families and how we live our lives according to what we have studied in the Bible. We try to be honest, and helpful, and stay neutral in politics and seek the best healthcare for ourselves and our families. We try and make sure our kids (and ourselves) have positive upbuilding association and watch our choice of entertainment that would include things that have too much violence or things we feel aren't good for us or morals for our kids. I don't see anything wrong with that.
The media puts ratings on movies and on games and now on TV shows, the bible has given us guidelines and counsel for years that protected us from these things long before ratings ever came around.
Whichever religion everyone is, just try and find some principles you can incorporate into your own life, it really does make everyone happier.

Yes! Yes we do! We love Jesus and the example he set for all true Christians! (2 Peter 2:21) We're thankful for his Love of his God and Father. (John 14:31; 20:17) We're thankful for his love for us too! (Proverbs 8:31) We feel as fellow Christians in the Bible did, "there is no salvation in anyone else, for there is no other name under heaven that has BEEN GIVEN among men by which we must get saved." We are thankful for God giving us Jesus to buy us out of what Adam sold us into--condemned to sin and death. Our ministry is based on Jesus ministry and his commission to true Christians at Matthew 28:19,20. We honor Jehovah God as Jesus did! Yes! We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Jehovah God! (Proverbs 30:4) Visit JW.ORG to learn more about Jehovah's Witnesses (Isaiah 43:10-12)

I was a JW for 22 years and stopped attending about 9 years ago for my own personal reasons, not because I did not believe anymore. The thing is there are always people out there that will twist things and I am forever explaining the beliefs to people, the main lies being that they let their children die and don't seek hospital treatment, that is TOTAL lies, they do not take blood, but they will accept any other form of treatment, and when you know that blood is not a necessary part of hospital treatments you would understand that they actually get a HIGHER quality of treatment. There is a whole list of doctors all over the world that will operate without blood, and they can even treat haemophiliacs without blood, they can call on all sorts of medical resources for treatment. People are often scared of what they don't understand, like people slate Muslims, it's only because they do not truly see what the religion is about.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians who understand the Scriptures to teach that God's Kingdom by Christ Jesus is a real government which will soon replace all earthly governments.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire
While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]
Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

Good suggestion for those who want to know what Jehovah's Witnesses believe NOW.
But likely you won't find there a lot of "truths" that they USED to teach such as: Jesus returned in 1874 and the Time of the End was a period of 115 years beginning in 1799 and ending in 1914.
If someone wants to know those "truths", they would do better to look at a different website such as biblestudents.org where they can read Pastor Russell's writings or freeminds.org which contain a lot of cited quotations from WT literature. Some really interesting - and surprising - reading, even for long-time JW's.
IN RESPONSE TO TRK.......
You say that they were wrong on some things but showed humility and admitted they were wrong?
Is that true of their teachings about 1799 and 1874?
If so, could you please tell me which WT publication contained their humble admission that they were wrong and that 1799 was NOT the beginning of the Time of the End?

Here is what I know. The do not believe Christ is GOD. They do not believe in the Holy Trinity. They think that Jesus Christ is a minor god. Also, they do not believe that Jesus Christ die on the cross.
The Truth is Jesus Christ die on the Cross. As it is written in the Holy Bible in the New Testament. Here's some of reference regarding the cross that you might look at: Matt 10:38, Matt 27: 32, 40, 1 Cor 1:17, Gal 6:14, Phil 3:18, Heb 12:2 .
