Acts 5:29 - "We must obey God as ruler rather than man." If ever my job had any requirements for me that included going against God's principles and commandments, I would quit my job.

I have the opposite conflict. I work in a (non-religious) non-profit that assumes everyone is a christian. Very uncomfortable, but I have to feed my family, so I stick with it. I don't have to do anything amoral, that would be the last straw, but it is very frustrating to be around bible thumpers all day.

I have also read articles about people being pressured to join prayer/bible study groups after work in order to get ahead. That happens in our government. It's not mandatory, but you'd better join if you want a promotion.

Yes, my job doesn't allow me to love my female supervisors or colleagues; but my religion clearly stipulates: LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AT WORK.

I can't believe that in 2007 , the puritans are still in control of the nation ; so workplaces still don't have designated LOVE areas.

We have accomodations for eating, for sudden urges to go to the bathroom, and to a lesser extent, smoking; but LOVE is EVIL and will not be tolerated?

As an atheist, no. I would never take a job that conflicted with my personal morality in the first place.

I have no religion, and I as for a career, I am a mathematician with a specialty in mathematical biology (though I do so dearly love algebraic topology and geometric group theory), so there is no conflict.

If I were working for someone who all of a sudden decided to pursue "creation research," I would send in my two weeks' notice.

Yeah, I left the Department of Corrections because there were security duties I had to perform that went against my practices.

I hated that part of my job.

I don't think I could work at a place killing stuff (slaughterhouse, etc.) I worked in a meat processing plant for awhile, and that was bad enough. Sometimes you just gotta pay the bills...

Yes. But if you have a union you can use them to set your employer straight. I don't work on Sunday's and my boss knew it. Others complained and he told me I had to start working on Sunday's. To make a long story short, the Union told my boss if he continued to pressure me about Sundays they would sue the company. The boss came to me and ask "exactly when would you like to work." I told him I would like to have Wed. night off for prayer meetings also. So he let me off Sunday and Wed.
