Monica,
The rock Jesus was speaking of was himself. you need to read the context of the scripture. not only that but your just repeating what someone told you in church without doing your own research and thats obvios. you didnt even tell us what scripture your talking about.

SpiritRoaming:
The catholic church seems to be the head of all false religion. It is clearly involved in polotics and has supported wars including the very deadly WW2. It is so far from the teachings of the Bible that a deaf, dumb and blind person could see this.
Dont the Catholics teach the Trinity Doctrine? To my knowledge the bible never speaks of a trintiy. And dont try and justify it by using John 1:1 cause everyone knows that scripture is very contraversial when it comes to its translation. It should read " Jesus was a god." Not "Jesus was God". You wouldnt know that though cause you dont read your bible.

1 Timothy 4:1-4---"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,"
Which religion forbids priests to marry and to not eat certain foods on certain days?
There is no Scripture that designates the Pope will serve as king either in heaven or on earth.

In one erroneous exegesis of one verse.
Here's some more examples:
Catholics adhere to the Pope as the vicar of Christ.
Christians believe that the Bible is the final authority.
2 Timothy 3:16
Catholic tradition is of equal authority with the Bible.
Christians believe traditions of man cause error.
Matthew 15:3
Pope decides who is "priest" in church leadership.
Christians believe all who believe are a priesthood.
1 Peter 2:5
Catholics believe Peter was the first Pope and not married.
Christians stand by the Bible that he was married.
Mark 1:30

"Where in the Bible can I read of the Pope?"
The generally accepted answer is where Jesus calls Peter the "rock on which [he] will build his church."
"Where does it say he will serve as a king with Jesus?"
This is a strawman argument. Catholics do not believe this.
Most importantly, you're committing the fallacy of begging the question. Catholics believe their church's history and tradition, which later gave them the Bible, is important, and that not everything has to be written specifically in the Bible. Therefore, you set out to insult them by holding them to standards they do not believe are necessary. You assume from the start that your religion (including the Sola Scriptura component) is correct, so you are assuming what you are trying to prove.

i've got yet to hearken to an adherent of sola scriptura clarify away 2 Thessalonians 2:15: "So then, brethren, stand company and carry to the traditions which you have been taught, whether by utilising know mouth or by utilising letter from us." i've got additionally heard some tremendously outstanding verbal contortions on "you're Peter, and upon this rock ..." I call it the great rock vs. little pebble protection.

Sorry, it can't be done. A lot of things the Catholic church has decided to pursue is apart from what the Bible says.

John 21:15-17 states:
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.
Matthew 16:17-19 states:
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing.
With love in Christ.

Jenny, the Pope does not call himself Christ or a king. Stop listening to the ant-Catholic propaganda and think for yourself.
You need to be FAR more concerned about those, like he one calling himself Todays Prophet, who are leading others to hell.
