The only person I can speak for is myself, but I can assure you that I'm NOT here because of some secret desire to be an atheist. If you recall, the category is "Religion and Spirituality", not "Atheism". I come to this site and category because I desire to help others searching for answers about Spirituality and gain further insight myself. Why do YOU come here?

Of course that's it. No Christian sincerely interested in his religion would ever come to a section called "Religion and Spirituality". Think about this for a minute. Christians, by their beliefs, would have their whole life-meaning and immortal souls to lose by losing their belief. And your last statement is ridiculous, no offense. No one needs to be shown the road that leads to losing faith in something. It's something everyone already knows how to do. "But could it be that the atheists are what draws the christians to this site" it's also pretty ironic that you make it sound like there were only Atheists in a topic called Religion and Spirituality before the actual religious people came.

Personally no, I do not come here because I want to be an Atheist. I am very content with my choice of religion :0)
I come here because I do have knowledge of the Bible and I want to share it with others who are curious. I also know that there are hundreds of inaccuracies and lies spread about my religion (Jehovah's Witnesses) so I also try to clarify those and give people accurate information.
Plus, this site is just plain fun! I've learned a great deal about other religions and viewpoints, and I have used it to reaffirm my beliefs and faith. It's nice to have an understanding of how the people around me view the world and religion.
Sometimes we get trapped in these boxes inside our heads, where we only concentrate on ourselves and our feelings, so it's nice to get out of that box on R&S and hear from the other 6 billion people on the planet :D

Suggesting that Atheists bash Christians because their hearts yearn to be Christian is like saying I sue my doctor for malpractice because in my heart I believe he did a fantastic thing when he amputated the wrong foot.
What I SOMETIMES see from both sides is an attempt to understand each other. At its worst, R&S is someone posting Bible verses that say nothing other than "God is great, God is so great" as if that proves any point they care to make about anything at all (those posters usually totally ignore the question asked, you'll notice).
At its best, people on both sides really try to reach out to each other and explain their way of thinking. I've gotten very caring and thoughtful responses from both Christians and Atheists.

Being an atheist is taking the easy way out,and I'm too strong a person to take the road more traveled. I prefer the straight and narrow path less trodden. It challenges me as a person and as a Christian. The road the atheists travel is way too mundane for me. So,in answer to your question,no,I am definitely not here hoping to be persuaded to become an atheist.

No, certainly not.
It's easy to become an atheist and to rely on logic alone.
It's the way of the world. Everything must make exact sense and be in some order of logical reality and understanding.
It's also easy to be a Christian, to not rely on your own understanding and to realize that man is not responsible for everything and science is not foolproof either, it's got a long way to go also, and to research the bible right along with science and see some of the things that were written before science declared it.
It's easy to be either, it's a choice. I choose Christianity.

Someone else kind of pointed this out, but I'll say it again for those that just skip down to the bottom answers.
This is the "Religion and Spirituality" section. It makes *sense* for Christians to be here. We are here to ask and answer questions about religion and spirituality.
The real question is, why are atheists here? There is no spirituality involved, so it makes far less sense for them to be here.
It's hard to find any site, chat room, etc, that is geared towards Christians and/or spiritualits without finding a gathering of atheists there. Not that we mind you here, but I think you've got the question backwards.

I think with a lot of them, it's simply the need to pray in the street. "I love Jesus! He's awesome! Thank you Jesus for everything! Jesus take the wheel!" etc ad nauseum. They just want a hundred other Christ-bots to say "I love Jesus too! God bless! Don't let the atheists take away your joy!" and so on. I mean, religion is all about meaningless reinforcement from The Herd.

Haha! I like this way of thinking quite a lot. Although, who would admit they're "aspiring to be an atheist?"

no the atheists come here because they are curious , and the demon that posses them blinds them and confuses them even more, So Christians it goes to show you, that In Her question she is DENYING GOD see it for your self, And atheist are of Satan because they are trying to convince all to turn from God, so if your not here to find God WHY are you here , I no why to confuse and to turn others from God, Your spirit is lead by a dark spirit, so why are you in Religion..God have Mercy own this soul...
