I know very little about it and don't really care to know much beyond the basics, but it seems logical that if there is a devil, then there must also be a God. Is it then that satanists believe their "guy" is the one who'll win the final battle?

Wrong. Satanism doesn't necessarily worship Satan as an actual being. To many satanists, Satan is a representation of indulgence rather than abstinance.

So satanism is generally an atheistic religion.

No, Satanists do NOT have to believe in God. Despite the claims of some, most modern Satanists follow the teachings of LaVey in "The Satanic Bible" which is an atheistic worldview derived much from Ayn Rand's Objectivist philosophy and Nietzsche. Only a small number of those folks are actually affiliated with the Church of Satan or another institution of similar mindset, and only a small proportion of LaVeyan Satanists are active on the Internet.

The Internet has allowed the fringe group of "theistic" Satanists (i.e. lunatics) (who are mostly disenfranchised teenagers and young adults) to seem to be much bigger and active than they are in the real world. They are probably about 30% of the size of the estimated total of LaVeyan or "modern" Satanists out there. These "theistic" or "traditional" Satanists are represented by such groups as "Joy of Satan" or the "Order of Nine Angles" which promotes neo-Nazi ideology, or else they promote bastardized versions of Yezidi (Al-Jilwah) ideology. Notwithstanding that real Yezidis in Iraq do not view themselves as "Satanic" or act as such in any way - this was a misunderstanding actually promoted by LaVey in the "Satanic Rituals" book so these folks are just following the lead of LaVey again. However, LaVeyan Satanists and "theistic" Satanists do not get along at all (for a simple reason - LaVeyan Satanists are atheistic and "theistic" Satanists are theistic - they just don't mix).

Theistic Satanists might but LaVeyian Satanists, which make up the majority of the Satanic movement today, don't believe in a literal God or a literal Satan but see them as archetypes representing the inner battle of self-righteousness vs. indulgence, "morality" vs. human nature, etc. They generally don't believe in any sort of final battle.

Satanism has two broad categories, religious Satanism and secular Satanism. Religious Satanism would be the traditional anti-Christian/anti-Catholic faith that actively worships the deceiver. By and large most satanists are of the secular variety, defining satan as pleasure, self or reason. They use the context of Christian definition to rebel against all things theistic. They view the highest form of expression to be self interest and self aggrandizement. The sub culture reached its peak in the 60s and 70s with the church of satan in LA started by Anton Szandor LaVey. But, by and large they are a small subset of Christian offshoots.

Most Satanists don't believe in God or Satan. They are humanist in nature... sometimes leaning towards hedonism (some more than others). The label satanist was mainly used to show the direct opposition to fanatical christianity.

No. Look it up. The name is chosen as a mockery of Christianity.

Theistic Satanists beleive in Satan as a god [usually the all powerful kind], and where they place Yahweh is up for grabs.

I believe your God exists, but I am not Satanist nor am I Christian. I choose not to follow your God. Its not meant to be offensive, I just don't agree with your doctrine.
Satanist aren't as evil as people think. I don't agree with their doctrine either, but its worst fault is that its very self indulgent and self centered. That's really about it.

I would say that they don't have a clue about God. They are very deceived by Satan. At some moment in their life, they ignorantly let evil spirits invade them and these spirits took them directly to the devil as all evil spirits will do.

Guard your minds. Flee from evil.

All things have their opposites. There can't be a Satan without a God the same as their can't be Sadness without Happiness... etc.
